Forsooth

The playing fields of Spring. March, 2007.

Duck: Continues at this stage of his dementia. Much happier. Tired he said, but the trip to the urologist went well yesterday. Catheter out and lots of urine out too. We are very pleased.

Me: Today!Ronnie Bennett has published a short bit of my cooking bio today at The Elder Storytelling Place. I call it Failure to cook.

Short blogs now. The pool heat wasn’t on. I exercised in the hot tup. Housecleaner today….walking, quilting, all that good stuff. The red on red star block is so beautiful that we talked about making the whole quilt a red quilt…giving up the trains, planes, and boats idea.

Thank you for leaving notes. I so appreciate them. Remember, I’m going to be short on time “shortly.” I’ll be reading you, but I may not have time to note back.

G: He’s still singing. The “Happy” light really works. Checking to see if we can re-finance at the bank after work. Dinner out before Duck.

Work: Padre’s 2008 Schedule. We only have to work 77 out of 84 games this year. Wow. Yearly training is on the 20th, 9 to 1.
It’s almost Spring Equinox. Tomorrow, actually. All over the world where baseball is played, and teams are deep into Spring Training after a brief break to play pre-Olympic exhibition games in China. Even here, there’s team training for every employee at Petco Park one day a year before the season begins. That’s tomorrow for me.

Once this year in writing class, MK brought this piece in for our edification, and I post it for you just before the boys of Spring began their rituals. In a letter to the NY Times, Earl Dachslager attempted to “prove” that the earliest references to baseball occur in the plays of Shakespeare.
