Grated Zucchini 2

Shirts at Amvets, 2009.

Himself: One of those sites where he posted his info got a hit and he had a two phone interviews today and an f2f interview tomorrow at 11…..more parts stuff. More computer stuff……we will know more tomorrow.

Life: Everything is really slo-mo including the COBRA. It posted that we got it but told no one. Our prescriptions were denied, and we might have to pay for the mammogram. Going up to Escondido this evening to cruise Lessa’s classic cars on Grand Avenue. One of the Poets says La Mesa has this too and it is a lot of fun.

Herself: Playing with the format here. Tired of columns on columns. Trying to deepen the grey a bit yet keep it readable. Crossing my fingers for G and not eating nuts again either. I sent a little piece to Ronnie Bennett. Hope it is ok to publish. Perhaps this photo should go with it, and I need to take a photo of zucchini to go with this poem. Spent a lot of time working on the Zucchini poem this week; in the end, I cut it in half and it reads better. They liked it at the workshop.

Reading: The Clah mystery and confess that I am skimming it.

Balance: Talking with Lessa.
......................Yesterday I followed a recipe
......................exactly.
......................It called for
......................four cups of grated zucchini
......................remembering the too much lemon
......................curling my toes in yesterday’s gazpacho
......................remembering an error with a carrot cake
......................where I didn’t pack the carrots
......................and ended up with a vaguely beige
......................carrot cake

......................I packed those grated zucchini bits
......................beyond tightly
......................squeekingly down into the glass
......................measuring cup.

......................There was a pause
......................while I spotted that my eggs ......................
......................had turned all wrong
......................in my refrigerator
......................and I was forced to make
......................a lightening run to the grocery store
......................to buy a fresh dozen eggs
......................eliminating a horrid smell in my icebox

......................a reality I hadn’t expected.

......................I mixed my three beaten eggs
......................and three tablespoons of flour
......................in with the zucchini,
......................and still had thick, grated zucchini.
......................I thought about adding a fourth egg but didn’t,
......................when I took this concoction out of the oven,
......................the recipe said the center should be cooked,
......................instead of the solid, raw zucchini
......................I saw in the dish.

......................I’m not giving the gods a third chance here.
......................I’m not grating zucchini again.
