Home!

Both the Geezer and I went to some difficulty trying to duplicate our own 1999 photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge. (See previous entry.) There have been many changes among them larger crowds and layers of fences intruding into the image.

Himself: Fractionally cantankerous but had a great “trip.” Great this morning tho. Starting new diets. Took 989 pictures, but then again, he drove.

Herself: Not as good as himself with very tired legs and puffings. Less coughing at last. Took 2,486 pictures.

Gratitude: That the legs got me around the cities, that the grandson was such a winner, and that I kept a log so I know what we did.

Of Note: Very sad that John Bailey of The Old Grey Poet has decided to stop writing a blog. He was a tremendous inspiration for me every day since I purchased my first usable computer in the 1990’s..

We had a great trip….a flat out great road trip.

The good: Each day offered something really special in the way of excitement which I will be able to share….one pixel at a time. The car ran great. We did pretty darned good too.

The mediocre: Oh, the excitements of new motels. Oh the joy of an old cranky laptop and abstract internet connections.

The semi-bad: We packed by the weather reports we received here before the trip, and all those warm things, those sweaters, those turtlenecks, those wools, they were never needed.

The bad: We forgot a number of things this trip…most of which we could buy as we were traveling in our home state. First…G forgot all the paperwork with the confirmation numbers, for which we went back. Second….the sandwich stuff. Sometimes all you can do is laugh at yourself. When in San Francisco, G’ette lost her muffler…(which she wore out while working for the Padre’s yet loved), one silver earring, and got a crotchety stomach.

The joys: The many special friends, a grandson, San Francisco rail in any form, several of the Missions, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Four great restaurants one in China Town, one suitable for parents in Santa Cruz, two Italian stops in North Beach, and one serving “Slo Food” in San Louis Obispo. The joys of family and friends were the best of all.

  4. Glad you're back. I'd like to make that trip one more time, but I don't think it will happen. I no longer feel the pull to California I used to have. I'm glad you had such a great time.

  6. Aren't trips wonderful? I love the planning, the trip, and the returne home all equally, I think. Hope you are settled back in. The bridge photos are wonderful. Never seen it myself.
