Trial and Error

We’ve been married long enough now that not only do we understand each other’s verbal shortcuts, we have some of similar physical reactions to things. For instance, I said to Himself this morning, “They’re both new.”

He knew immediately what I was talking about. “That’s good,” was the smiling reply. Both NCIS programs are new this evening. We confess, we are addicted to NCIS.

I woke up night before last at three thirty with a mind filled with nightmares unable to stop thinking and unable to go back to sleep. It wasn’t just a standard response to my primary disease, we figured out that it was the food we had eaten for dinner the night of the game. The Geezer had a similar response but not quite as severe. Then again, we both spent a portion of our day in the bathroom.

We have become conjoined twins.

I cooked a middle American dinner last night here at home. Chops, veggies and the only aberration was a warm potatoe salad recipe from Martha Stewart’s cookbook. Yes, I actually used one of her recipes she says hiding her head. Since I couldn’t marinate the cooked potatoes in vermouth, I used a more standard vinaigrette base as the marinade and cut portions sizes from 8 to 3. It was really good, yet it was something new in our diets.

We slept like rocks. We did not have nightmares, and I don’t think the main focus of our days will be to find a bathroom. We shan’t eat at that new restaurant again either.

Trial and error with comments also. Captain Poolie wrote that she had been having great difficulty leaving a comment. I've changed the comment format, and I hope this new thing works. I have also found that clicking on the entry and bringing up just that entry will simplify the comment process.

  1. Oooh! Hope you are feeling better! And yes, you are becoming one with the Geeze. How cute! I am having all sorts of problems with your comments now. About 75% of the time, I get an error notice about Blogger cookies. I can only leave you comments when I put your URL in by hand now. Something is amiss. Are we in Denmark?

  2. I think it's them not me, but I will play with the comments feature this morning. This does happen with blogger once in a while. Grrrrr.....

  3. Let me see if this works better.

  4. It lets me post from my phone now, but I have to preview the comment first. It's okay - small price to pay for having phone access to your wonderful journal!

  5. This is progress. I'm spoiled. I like notes. I was feeling sideways when I only got two notes on yesterday's baseball entry. Let's see if this helps.

  6. Yes, I'm afraid those of us who've been together become one in many ways. Sometimes that's good and sometimes that's not so good. Sounds like the two of you will be in a much better space if you can figure out the food problem. I only have to do the bathroom routine one time and I do not repeat that food.

  7. I haven't had a problem. One of the things I like about blogger is that I get the opportunity to preview.

Not only is NCIS new, but I get to watch it tonight. Whenever there was women's basketball, I watched on the computer the next day.

  10. I understand! My ex and I still can pick up each other's verbal shorthand. I hope you are feeling better!!! And yeah, I've been haing problems commenting, too!!! This week has been fraught with computer disasters and it's putting me crazy (or is that crazier?). Sigh.

  11. My husband & I have that verbal shortcut too. We call it the 6th dimension! LOL. Hope the tummy problems are over and that you both can enjoy food again.

  12. Too bad you had the upset tummies. We stick to the tried and true places or eat in. For some reason, I am receiving the MS mag. I don't remember ordering it but who knows what I did. I did buy a tee shirt that read "Free Martha" when she was in jail. I gave it away without wearing it. Don't remember why I bought it. D. and I have verbal shortcuts, sometimes. Other times he acts obtuse. Depends on his mood I guess. Like your new comment format so far. Dianne

  13. Sorry, not a baseball fan and so no comment was made on my part. You don't want idle chit chat...do you? ;-) Glad you two are thinking as one. Not too sure if 'digestive illness partnering' is something good though.

  14. Yes, it's frightening sometimes when we finish each others sentences or when he asks me what I said when I haven't said anything yet, but am thinking of saying something.

And yes, funny how the old digestion isn't what it used to be.

I, too, am shamed by having one of 'her' cookbooks. One thing I noticed, though, was that in more than one recipe the amounts are REALLY off.

Made stuffed peppers last night -- with quinoa, spinach, carmelized onion, mushrooms and feta. It was good!

  15. I'm glad your tummy is feeling better. My husband and I are the same way. We truly do finish each other's sentences. Only problem is sometimes there's no point in talking since I know what he's going to say.
