A Fashionista Report

For those who are fashionistas, we noted that many in the crowds were dressed to the teeth to match the cars. One young lady confessed that she collects antique stockings and even put them on wearing gloves. Another wore more peach beads than a 1980’s bead store yet managed to look right in style with small flapper like panels that trailed from her jacket. There were top hats and tails, flappers galore, black suits, blue suits, and lots of bling everywhere. Many women wore pearls.

The Geezer wore his newest dark blue suit, and a delightful tie that focused on a red roadster remarkably similar to the one behind us in the top picture. He was a great hit even tho we agreed later the suit now has to be taken in since he is a splendidly smaller person than when he bought the suit.

I wore a navy blue beaded chiffon from the Discovery shop….and there were other’s wearing thrift store finery, and I had my hair done…tho you wouldn’t know it. Tucked in corners were some of mother’s diamonds, a bracelet and earrings the Geezer gave me, plus the watch my father gave me. Diamonds keep great time even if you don’t wear them. Yes, I felt stuffed. I should have worn the “Ross Dress For Less” shoes with the double foam Dr. Scholl’s inserts instead of my Nordies expensive shoes. I felt better when I saw that Captain Poolie kicked off her shoes too.

The Boss person, Captain Poolie, with her devoted assistant M. I think it was the first time he had worn a bow tie, and it worked well as did the Captain’s Feather.

After a buffet dinner which G and I ate with great restraint, crowds begin to gather around the silent auction tables. Later there was bidding for two cars. G had faint hopes about the 1955, bare bones, 2 door Chevy, 6 cylinder with three on the tree. Both the Chevy and the one owner Fiat went for 10 grand each to one buyer. No spirited bidding. No great crowds overall. I only hope that as a fund raiser it was successful.

  3. You looked splendid! Love your hairstyle. I need to buy me a special outfit to wear to special occasions. But, first, I need to lose weight, especially around my girth.

  4. What a splendid evening and how elegant you both look. I noticed G's tie right off the bat, and I cerainly can tell you had your hair done.

I have to laugh. David has two old cars parked out front and someone has posted a sign reading: "$300 for old cars. Will tow for free." Some old things get no respect.

  11. You look fabulous, Maggie. Isn't there some saying about a smile being the best make-up anybody can wear. Well, you look great from head to toe. So glad you had such a great time even though you had to eat with restraint.

  15. You both look wonderful, but I did notice G's coat hung a bit off the shoulders. What a great problem to have, huh? And you! Splendid! I think I told you how much I like your shorter hair.
