A Fine Romance

The Great Geezer, Georgette, and Lessa whose birthday we are celebrating tomorrow.

Hi! It’s me, I’m the one with the security issues. Perhaps I need to go back to a therapist. Learn to hold my head up high when the world is falling apart around me. Like the folks in LA, I need to learn to take surface streets instead of trying to get on a closed freeway.

There are those moments when G tells me that his company closed its headquarters and laid off the staff that my heart stops. The boss’s brother is running things now….Gee, that feels reminiscent of what happened at the Big Box RAC or that last Software company. The employees at G’s company got fired in a conference call yesterday. What could be worse.

The Great Geezer says they sent out an email saying that of the 20 company folks like G, 14 were on the short list. The just fired boss says G is not on the short list, but can you believe this statement from a just fired boss. G says he is fine, but he is the one that tried to do all the wrecks in his queue yesterday and is still working on them this morning.

I don’t feel people pleasing is a path to success, nor do I feel panic over security issues leads to a happy marriage. We are a fine pair, Charlie Brown.

  1. No, you especially don't want to be fired in today's economy! Let's hope and pray for the best. I find it odd that the boss was fired but his brother took over the reins of he company. hmmm.

  2. Keeping good thoughts for both of you. G is a hard worker and hopefully, they will appreciate that he does his job. Maybe that snafu about his vacation was very telling.....

  3. What a lousy way to tell employees they are terminated. A very cowardly act. I know things will work out or you. It is difficult as we grow older to believe in the positive, but it is still out there. Best~Dianne

  4. Rough world filled with what seems like a increasing supply of hard hearted folks. All my best to you.

  5. What a horrible thing to be faced with again. It's hard to be philosophical, isn't it? If 14 of 20 are going to be asked to leave, all 20 are suffering. Even the 6 left behind are going to have a difficult time of things. My heart goes out to you both. I wish you strength and calmness of resolve.

  6. I would like to have something good to say to you. I've been in your shoes several times when my ex was laid off. It wasn't what finally killed the marriage, but it didn't help. I wish you the best.

  7. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both. How awful to be let go in such an cold way.

  8. Holy crap! I'm so sorry that you're under this kind of stress again! Shouldn't happen to a dog! (At least the dog usually has a master to buy his food) I'm crossing fingers and toes for you!
