Desktops

Rice fields in Northern California, 2007.

Himself: Saw the doc and is making time to soak the site. Something is still in it, but the infection is almost gone.

Herself: Had a ball cleaning bookshelves, discarding unsold books, bringing out new books that J had priced.

WW foods for the day: Thanks to some veggies from an OD blogger, every day has been a wonderfully fresh veggie day here. Lost, weight but only a little. Dinner: Hamburger pattie, tomatoe and avocado salad plus a sweet cold slaw using Zero as the sweetener.

It used to be easy to pop a picture on your desktop. Right click, properties, click on the picture, and there you were. Today choosing a picture sounds just the same, but when you click on “browse” it opens every picture you have on your hard drive. After cursing a bit, I actually had to ask for help when changing my desktop yesterday.

For years, I had used a favorite from our trip to Alaska. Every time I saw the image, not only was I reminded of the beauty I saw around us, I was reminded of our friend Seedy’s who took time off work to spend the day with us. Later I changed the picture to one taken far down into Mexico….a small perfect tourist beach deep in a Mexican jungle.

These days, I am thinking train trip. Images from trains are in the forefront of my mind.

When I finally found one I liked, the photo format needed to be sideways not vertical like yesterday's picture. It also needed to be not angled, out of focus, or in need of work. Ah well, I persevered and now have a bit of peace for my desktop.

  1. Ah, I'm waiting to be able to access my picture library. (It was on my old hard drive, which is incompatible with my new computer.)

However, when I save a picture, I name it something I will remember. It's easier to find. I also used to sort them into folders, but sometimes I would forget which folder was pertinent.

Some days I can't do anything properly.

  2. My husband had organized most of our photos into folders...only sometimes he doesn't use a file name that makes sense to me...
Love the old rusty train photo.

  3. I have had the same desktop photo for a while now...Hmmm maybe I need a change-I have an External HD where I keep all my most current photos...I also used folders and name them as to location and yr..that helps me keep up with most of them!
I really like both of the photos you have in your post today!!!Either one is a great desktop image.

  4. As always, I'm in awe of your photos!!!

I feel your pain. As I type, I'm in the midst of cleaning up the newest desk top and, if all goes well, I'm going to see if the two desktops in my den work okay and if I can get all the stuff off their hard drives and and put it on this one. It's a job for Batman but he says that he doesn't do Windows! ;-)

  5. I have a folder that I use for the slide show on my wallpaper. Of course, they are all my photos that I use. But I only use the ones in the folder. I like the rice fields photo you used. The train is so you.

  6. We're going on the Alaskan Cruise later this summer. It's great to hear that you loved Alaska. I've never been there and look forward to seeing it.
