Movin' On

Books, in their last place at the Discovery shop. 2011.

Done. All the yearly medical stuff, done. The blood work was great, the leg is “roaring,” and the pain slowly lessened dramatically over the last two days. I can’t tell you how pleased I am. My breasts, though now 70, passed muster after a great squish or two, and most of my skin did too.

The eyes were last with the most thorough exam I’d had in years. Yes, I shouldn’t have driven home. Yes, my eyes were still blurry when I went to bed. Yes also, I now know my right eye pressure is slightly elevated, and I have cataracts but at the lowest level. Wear hats of visors and sunglasses, he told me. This new eye MD is a keeper.

Small things like that add to the days as we move on through them.

It was back in the pool, gently, before reading the Thingplatz piece yesterday. “Dense, academic, fine writing, and needs and up front thesis statement,” were some of the comments. I’ll get to that after work today. Writing is nothing but change and moving on.

Work will be a problem. Ever since I started there, I have worked Fridays with a friend named Norma. Last Friday at work, Norma collapsed. She called this last Wednesday and told us that she has Leukemia and has refused chemotherapy. She has experienced chemo several times before, and we all understand her reluctance to go through it all again. Her husband is dying of throat cancer also. This has been tough on her. It’s tough on all of us to lose her.

Sometimes it’s really tough to move on too.

  1. Good news from you; bad news from your friend. Good luck and best wishes to both of you!

  2. I went through the Leukemia scare last year. Really scary. I spent time educating myself on this subject, as you might expect when I tell you my sister is in remission from a bout and my Dad died with it.

Sad your friend is facing so many difficulties. Very sad.

Congratulations to you for getting the go ahead for a few more months. (Unless you kill yourself in a car accident.) Dianne

  4. Life is certainly NOT fair. Glad you are on the healthy side. Must wear a hat...I keep ignoring that important advice.
