Rethinking

I love Monday’s and Tuesdays. They are mine. No appointments fill their hours, no school, no volunteer hours, nothing at all. So what did I do with this wonderful Tuesday. Don’t laugh, but I patched up my errors and dusted.

This last weekend, I had attempted to update my VISA card information on the ABE Books site only do discover the card information wasn’t. It said Debit, and it was from my bank, so I thought it was my new Debit card. Nope. When I called the number on the card, not only did they charge me a buck for the call, but I learned it was a “rewards card.” By yesterday I was still struggling to get the ABE to take my real information, reorder declined books, and apologize when necessary.

Gee, I felt the proper fool. Old.

Then before dusting, I printed out the travel log only to discover my few pages had blossomed into 37. Again, a nope. I can’t take 37 pages to a class that limits you to five pages or to use in the new album format. It obviously was a day to rethink things. I rethought by dusting the “mysteries.” While I dusted, I got rid of authors I’d not read in at least five or six years. Three big bags full.

The chicken with pears was overcooked because my meat thermometer had died, the dusters were worn beyond dusting, but I had three bags chock full of books to discard. It was a nice way to end the day.

  1. It's great that you got a bunch of "cleaning up" done. I'll have all that to do when I return to Hawaii.

  2. Hey, you should have donated those books to either Goodwill (yes, they accept books) or the public library -- and get a tax deduction!

  5. Ah, the unbearable lightness of cleaning up.

  6. I'm getting to the point that I'm suspicious of anything coming from a bank that I didn't order. I don't use debit cards and, as it happens, all my credit cards are from banks other than the one out of which I make payments. I refuse to give anyone direct access to my account.

And they have a helluva nerve charging you for the call. I hope you told them to "put it on the card"!
