Semi-Disappointed

Above: Another donation to the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop earlier in the month. It had a small stain in the center, and a few drops of blood in the white of the side. I took it to the cleaners and most came out. It’s truly marvelously machine quilted by a dedicated quilter. Below: Detail of the quilting seen on the back.

I confess, I devolved yesterday.

After doing all those morning things and lunch, I planned the meals for the week, shopped for dinner, started the laundry and picked up a book. That was it folks.

I truly like Barbara Hambly’s writing. Her series about the black doctor in the south is some of the best writing around. This one is a scifi-magician piece that is sliding downhill into triteness, darn it. I’ll finish it, but I’m disappointed. Even the chili was too meaty tho I followed the directions and cut everything in half….exactly. I was disappointed in that too.

Not in the Geezer’s physical tho. Everything within the boundaries of normal even his cholesterol if one can call the Geezer normal.

  1. Truly a lovely quilt! Glad for the good medical report...that is worth a lot of money.

  2. What a pretty quilt. Since the blood spots are on a white portion, you might try a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide. Of course, if the stains are really old, it won't work; but it won't harm the quilt.

  4. If I have too much of chili or some other dish, I freeze it. David will eat leftovers and so will I sometimes. Love the quilts. Keep them coming. Dianne

  5. Beautiful posting all the way around...Good news on the medical exams....
Gorgeous quilt; it would be worth trying to remove the stains on it...the backing is as lovely as the front.

  6. Lovely quilt. I also make large pots of chili and freeze the extra in portions for my household. So nice to have when the day uses up my energy to cook. Have white bean chicken chili, and hamburger red bean traditional.

  7. Beautiful quilt! It would be hard to pass that up even though I don't need another quilt. Is that quilt border done by machine?

  8. Gorgeous quilt -- glad you were able to rescue it!

I think I need to look at Barbara Hambly's series. Are they best read in order?

  9. I have a great tip for getting blood out of fabric..dab it with some hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball we use it at my work-- all the time when a pin gets us and it really works.

  11. Congratulations on that gorgeous quilt. Wow! Surprising that someone gave it up without trying to clean it first.
