Newnesses

1963: Gimpa and Lessa. A very faded now Photoshopped photo.

The Geezer was home working diligently on his wrecks when I got home from the store. Poor guy, the lights were on but no one was home. I’d gone by the, to me, Fresh and Easy grocery store…a West Coast subsidiary of Tesco. It’s in the old Lucky at the top of the hill. Very barebones but with two isles of prefixed meals. Checkout is all electronic which I’ve only done once before.

The girls in the back room all sang the praises of their chicken noodle soup. Gleefully, for this old lady who hates to cook, it has two full isles of prepared meals. The OK Beef broccoli for me while he ate all his soup and salad. We both ate all the tiny cheesecake.

I guess I won’t buy that again for even this morning I can see the calories marching around.

Grey skies today. While he is having a zombie day with one of his games, I’ll scan, write, and play that I’m domestic. Maybe if I close my eyes and click my heels three times, I will be.

  1. I gather you didn't particularly enjoy your meal? I'm finding more and more that despite my reluctance to cook late in the day, even the simple stuff tastes better than what you usually get in the food isles of the grocery store.

  2. I am such a food barbarian. I brought home all the leftover tacos and rice from lunch and at it all again for dinner. Color me HEATHEN FOODIE.

  3. I want to cook less and less but the time I spend trying find something that won't turn my innards into the Bonneville Saltflats is way more than if I just gave up and cooked. There's no mercy.

  4. You did a great job with restoring that amazing photo with Photoshop. That is such a precious photo. You could enlarge and frame it.

  5. Oh my gosh, when I saw the photo on this post, I thought I was seeing my own grandfather, right down to the bow tie. The photo is amazing.

  6. You hate to cook but you love to read and collect cookbooks. You call yourself "this old lady" but with your new perky haircut you appear youthful and full of spark. I just don't know what to think.
