Triumphs

Ties, 2012.

There are those moments you can be proud of. You order what you want for breakfast then don’t eat it all. You go out to dinner and don’t have seconds. You go out and bring home leftovers. I feel real triumph sometimes.

Sometimes I don’t. I’m also afraid of making changes. Silly me. It’s ok to cancel, alter, move a date, move anything as long as you communicate. It’s Bee’s turn to call me tomorrow. Instead of happily chatting, I will be at the dentist with my mouth open. The tooth that I knew had a cavity fell apart over the week end. I shall carry the hunk of tooth to the dentist not proudly but honestly. I can hear the cash register of crown now….ka-ching.

Around three this afternoon, we are headed over to Karen’s house. The Great Geezer will change a light bulb for her, and in exchange she will take us out to our new, favorite Mexican place. For years we ate at Nati’s down the hill in downtown OB. It serves genuine American Mexican foods. For a while we liked Mex-Fresh with their huge number of salsas, then for years we ate at the Family place around the corner from our big house. Calamari rellenos a specialty. Now even better that these old favorites is the Cocina just around the corner. For a couple of bucks you can have a chicken taco, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. Best of all, you don’t have to eat it all. Surely a triumph of friendship and food.

  2. Oh I love Mexican food. What a great reward. Chalupas are my favorite.

My favorite tie is the one in the upper right-hand corner. Dianne

  6. How nice of Karen to treat you both to the Mexican food. Can I change her light bulb next time?

  7. Dinner for a light bulb change. Sounds like a great exchange to me. Anything I can I'd do to avoid cooking too often. Et tu?

  8. What a lovely way to spend your day....I never got into Mexican food much (not a big choice in Northern Indiana) but I have learned to like some of it.....and hope to appreciate it more

  9. I think you should do a coffee table photograpy book:Simple Every Day - with photos like this one. You have such an eye for the beauty in "stuff" - Wish I owned this one.
