Busy, Busy, Busy (EDIT)

This house always brings a smile to my face.

The storm has been hanging just off the coast. No dramatic deluge yet and we wait. Noon they now say. Our streets are damp, a harbinger of things to come, and all plans are subject to change. Dinner here in the warmth of home instead of out? Perhaps a baked potatoe with no butter. Small, warm, comforting details on a rainy day. At least I have lost enough weight to be able to get into my tan pants again.

Tomorrow will be busy. Poolie is giving a Greek Lunch for two blogger friends on her and her sisters’ birthday. G and I are invited. This is going to be fun. Greek food and dancing in the midst of a deluge. I love parties like these and we are looking forward to the fun. There’s a meeting at 6pm where we have commitments. Busy is good.

This upcoming week we have doctor’s appointments. I learned the hard way not to drive alone if my eyes were to be dilated. I should never have driven home last time, so this time in case he needs me, I’m going with G to his eye doctor’s appointment next on Monday. Tuesday, hopefully I get my old mouth back after class. Wednesday I work and go see my GP about my knee and no voice. Yes, still no knee and no voice. It’s marvelous that thanks to G and a Medicare Advantage Plan, I can afford to go to a doctor. Sometimes busy is to be tolerated.

Other happenings in Southern California. Everything else is on hold. While we wait to find out any news, there are more birthdays upcoming. Several from OD. Later, we are going to a convention….the one where I always get such good shots of the roses. We took a hotel room for two nights and have signed up for the Ice Cream Social knowing the at least one Comedian will be terrible and they will let us have only one scoop of ice cream. We will jam in all sorts of rose filled meetings, meals, and gatherings on Saturday culminating in a breakfast with Speaker Sunday morning. There’s that Sunday night meeting too.

We can do this. Pant, pant….

* Today I refused to let him drive his car, Myrtle, to the museum. He's mentioned to me that his tires were wearing out. I, not taking into account that he drives 200 miles a day, poo poo'ed that. This morning I checked. Not only is there nowhere to put a dime or nickle into the non-existent tread, the wear bars are all right there waving at us. Tomorrow after lunch, he will get new tires. He's driving Grumpy agreeing after he saw those wear bars.

  1. What convention is that? Sounds painful rather than fun. I am so sorry for the knee and the voice issues. My boot is now off but he car is stalled in the driveway with no ability to shift into gears! It is always something...isn't it? Unfortunately I will be honest about the house picture...I cringed.

  2. Goodness sake, for a person who doesn't socialize, you get around round round. Dianne

Don't know why David doesn't like vegan. He is just beginning to warm to something other than fried rice from the Asian restaurants. He likes bratwurst, but I tell him the fried rice is better. Dianne

  3. Wondering about your storm coming. A recent Seattle to San Diego transplant wrote of the SD advisory to stay inside. Hope all is well. My Seattle/Now San Diego friend said all the storm advice "seems like just a regular Seattle Tuesday" - Stay dry... we are experiencing days and days of snow, hail, ice, sun, snow, hail, rain, sun. Snow, sleet, sun....

  5. That house would give me a double take too. Very interesting.

I hope you don't get hit too hard with the weather. We've been really hit by rain a lot over here in Hawaii.

  6. I love the house. I know it's not in good taste, but I always admire people who do this.

We've had amazing weather here in Pittsburgh--Just like any other July.

  7. That sounds positively scary! Hope it was taken care of okay, and I sit here and watch our own storm blowing in (that doesn't seem nearly as bad as the weathermen said it would be) and sympathize. Can't always trust things will stay so harmless looking. Weather is going crazy all over the country it seems. Btw, I kinda liked that house too. It was neat looking.

  8. Well I hope all is okay with you by now. Sorry about the voice and knee issues. Dilated eyes are very uncomfy. I remember having had an appointment for a specific concern where my eyes were dilated far more than the typical checkup. I was taking the bus home but had to walk across a snowy field to get it. It was a bright, sunny day and I was quite blinded by the deep fluffy stuff. I had no idea where I was stepping and the light hurt. And that was with sunglasses. Not a fun experience. So no driving for you! Good luck with everything. Keep us posted, please.

  9. I love the way you don't let pesky things like knee and mouth issues get in the way of living life at full tilt. Hope they get better soon.
Wish I had your gift of getting hubby to do what he doesn't think is necessary.
Enjoy the Greek party - Greece - my spiritual home.
I'd be fascinated to see the whole of the house with yellow railings.
