No Comic Con

We were primed and ready promptly at 0800 hovering over our keyboards with great enthusiasm. That was us. Last year, Comic Con sold out within moments, and we were unable to get tickets. We were disappointed…to put it mildly.

This year, we followed the new and complicated instructions as carefully as we could. One member ID per email address. Member ID’s arrived in the email which was heartening after last years’ failure. Then came email that said we could go for our badges on Saturday. It’s a little like a children’s game. Don’t click on the link before 0800, it told us.

We clicked, we were booted off a couple of times, but it was encouraging to watch our place in line to fall into the 7,000’s.

Suddenly, kapoof. All the tickets were sold, and we didn’t get any. Again. The Geezer won’t give up, but I am VERY discouraged with all this. No new Comic Con pictures again. Darn it. So I show today some of the ones I haven’t shown before. Darn it.

  1. sorry you didn't get the tickets....but you tried....So have a treat today.....sit by the water, take some photos, have a nice dinner, whatever it takes to get over the disappointment.

  2. The steampunkers we are working with for our next exhibit didn't have the best things to say about Comic Con. We are working AROUND the convention and doing our own thing. They wanted $14,000 for advertising! Anyway...come to our show. It's a limp consolation prize in comparison, but it might be fun!

  7. Oh bummer. I know it hurts to be so close and miss out. Oh well, there's always next year I suppose.

I think the costumes you and your friend wore in a previous post were better than anything you might see anyway. Dianne

  8. These are great photos anyway, Mage. I'm sorry you couldn't get the tickets. Like the Cubbies say in Chicago though, "There's always next year!"

  9. Sorry you were disappointed yet again! My daughter is a huge fan of such events -- no surprise there she is co-owner/operator of a shop that sells comics and cards. As a teen she 'dragged' me to such events and I was always amazed at them.

    The pictures are terrific!!!

    Better luck next time!

  10. Sorry you missed out. Good for you for your persistance. Would a faster computer with a better link help? Used to go to the comic book shows in Seattle when we lived there but never made to the "big" one.
