Behind the Scenes

Under the deck of the San Francisco Bay Ferry is a float with signs of all sorts of ongoing work.  The chains holding her in place are new as are the newly constructed railing.

All sorts of little things are getting accomplished around here.  The pantry is tidy and organized into new bins and containers.  G’s spent 6 months saving coupons for Hefty containers with locking lids free from our local grocery store.  Our foodstuffs are now locked in and beautiful on their shelves.

I called my lawyer to make a new will.  He doesn’t do wills any more, something I found strange.  He did turn me on to the California Bar site where I could download the form for a California Statutory Form Will.  At first glance, it may be too simple for my leavings.   I’m not happy about this.

The government got off its ass and voted.  At least it did something.  All the new congress folks get in today.  Ours are all Democrats…as if that will weigh in future votes.

Did I say that I hated politics even more than I dislike IBS?

After I finished my share of the store inventory yesterday, I got ALL the books priced.  This proved to be a monumental task thanks to donations, but a fellow worker helped for a while.  That lightened the load.  It was good to get this job done as a start to the new year.  I should have photographed the shelves when they were bare so we would have something to marvel about.  I did take my camera with me yesterday, and when I got home I truly believed I shot lots of photos.  I didn’t take a single one.  Fading here.

I did call the doc yesterday after work and leave a message about my cold turning into a sinus infection.  In the past, I have always waited until past the last moment leaving myself with serious problems.  This year’s cold/sinus is being tackled with immediacy.  Perhaps I need to tell her how I am fading too.

The dishes are washed, the laundry is done….thanks G, and the house is tidy…thanks Marta.  Into action is me this year even if it is one step removed.  Sometimes all you can do is laugh.  That’s my mantra for the year.

  • Keeping those on the east coast in my thoughts.
  • Himself:  Has cold hands by choice this morning.  Silly goose.
  • Herself:  Sometimes all you can do is laugh.
  • Reading:  Still, “All the Presidents Men.”  Really enjoying this far more than the followups….which I read earlier.
  • Balance:  Waiting for the doc to call then going to take pictures.  Our store donates all socks and underwear to the Presbyterian Churches Urban Outreach program.  I have a Grumpy seat full of bags to deliver this morning.

    1. Being lazy about picking up a referral...but have to wait 10 more days before I can use it anyway. So did you not take photos or did you take photos and did not have the correct setting? I have been sleeping upstairs to avoid hubby's coughing, but I think finally today h e will be better. It is noon and I am still in my PJ's and I do not care. Yes, must keep laughing.

    2. Ah Mage. I have been lazy about posting. I keep coming and reading but don't always have something to say. I wish you and G a happy, healthy new year with hugs and many good things.

    3. Have you considered a living trust? Everything goes to heirs without having to pay any lawyer even five cents. I have one. So glad I did that. You can modify yourself anytime you want. Revokable living trust.

    5. Good luck with the cold and the calls. Sounds like you are determined to be organized this year. Me too!

    6. I think if you got all that work done, you must not be fading too much. I hope you get on top of that sinus stuff. I've fought it for the last six weeks or so.

I hope your new year brings many good things.

    7. I'm so sorry you have IBS. My son-in-law suffers from that too. Please take care of yourself. I'm hearing about so many people having colds these days.

Oh... and I have a Living Trust also.
