Leaping into Life

Yamashita Joji, large Bizen ware jar.  The red marks are made when a cord that’s wrapped around the jar burns off during firing.  The clay, identifiable by its iron-like hardness, reddish brown color, absence of glaze, and markings resulting from wood-burning kiln firing, is of high iron content, and its decoration due to the effects produced during the firing.  Firings happen only once or twice a year, and they can take up to 14 hours.

Friday night the two of us dared to go out to dinner and a meeting.  Sunday night we did another meeting, and we were both happy to be enthusiastically welcomed back.  Few had our phone numbers, we discovered.  Now they do.  He returned to the gym last week; I this week.  I’m still coughing but my sinuses feel no pain.

The pool water actually felt warm this morning.  Warm pool water is good for the soul as is hot water in the jacuzzi when the air is 37.  The pain has gotten so much worse this last month without the water exercise that I decided to have the hip done.  Today I could barely get out of the pool half way through the class, but I could get out of the jacuzzi quite easily.  Heat works.

Wednesday we start back to Weight Watchers.

    2. Take care of that hip! 14 hrs in the kiln is a lot of hours.

    3. This morning I crouched down behind the TV to copy down details to see If I can have Netflix streamed to it. My knees started to hurt so I sat and then couldn't get up so my sympathy is very real.
It doesen't help if you have more than one problem and I'm sure once your sinuses are better everything else will improve. I hope so.
      Lovely vase.

    5. Glad you are feeling better. Do I surmise that you might be talking hip replacement surgery? I will come visit you!

    6. The only thing I know about hip and knee replacements is from those I know who've had one: you'll know when "it's time" no one will have to tell you. Sounds like you're up and out and grooving, which keeps you young or wears you out. Either way you know you're alive.
