Chill

One of the workers adjusting, washing, adding the last pieces, and in general finishing the big living room sliders.

I’m chomping at the bit.  G reminds me that I need to chill.  Still I have closet envy.

If only I could move in.  The filled boxes and empty spaces call to me.

“Chill,” he says running away from me.

I don’t blame him.  I must seem mad as a hatter and fall into a nap on the new sofa - hiding from myself.

Only now, at two thirty, can I access my computer.  The window next to it is finished.  I don’t mind this small workspace in a corner of the living room.

“Stop wiggling,” he tells me.

As we survey the new office space, we both agree the desk needs to be attached to the wall.  Something we agree on.  He’s aghast at the idea of me touching up paint then he tells me he’s only teasing me.

I took him seriously.

  • Keeping those on the east coast in my thoughts.
  • Himself:  Has managed his quota plus despite innumerable interruptions.
  • Herself:  Thursdays are my day off.  I’m really in the way today with my hair pulling.  Dinner: Broccoli with a mustard cheese sauce,  Caprisi salad.  Garlic bread.  Dessert of some sort.  Project Runway finale.
  • Reading:  Newest JA Jance was very scattered.  Don’t you like short reviews?
  • Balance:  Having something to do.  Tomorrow the Around the World sale at the shop.  That’s going to be fun.
  • What is the “Quieter Home Program:”  The Airport authority is installing new triple pained windows, new doors, and HVAC for those of us who live under the flight path.  We will have deliciously quiet lives but cannot sue if they crash into us.  Free.

    1. patience. There must be some exercise or advice on patience on the Internet. Go to your local library, find one of those big comfy chairs (try not to people watch) and read or write. It is so close that you MUST be patient.

    6. I'd like to wish you patience, but I happen to know how it feels to just want it done so you can put things away. I'm sort of in the same position right now.

    7. I stay away a few days expecting things are going to be all fine when I come back and here I am today and you are still in chaos! Are you being a wheel with a loud-enuf squeal people pay attention to? May I suggest something funny to read that may give you new perspective on living in muddlement! "Let's Pretend This Never Happened," by Jenny Lawson. See? Even the title suggests ways to cope. ;-)
