Repairable

Stopping by the bay an old, nameless  Chris Craft waiting for repair.

I’m like that Chris Craft these days.  Old but still viable.  Old but repairable.

I told the Geezer to bring some of the Bill Miller picture books on liners to me in the hospital.  Perhaps the best thing is to make a pile for him to bring then there’ no questions.  There’s probably no wi-fi in the hospital, but I can make notes on the laptop for later.  Take photos too.  My goal in all this is to be able to take care of myself as fast as possible.  We have fourteen stairs from the garage to the living room, and we have another 14 steps from the living room to the third floor.  If I could get up the day of the vascular surgery and march around the hospital floor, I am hoping I can do the same with the hip.

Grumpy’s old but repairable too.  The mechanic called to say yes the transmission fluid was low and there were metal filings in it.  G knew this.  All I hope is that new fluid will fix the problem.  Yes, too, it was his master brake cylinder.  It was 19 years old, so who are we to argue.

My hip is 71 years old, so who am I to argue about that either.

Life is Really in the Footnotes:
  • Himself:  Worked for someone else yesterday and was very happy to get back to subrogation from audit.  He loved Dexter, and he ate his Peanut M&M’s just like he was watching a movie.
  • Herself:  Read my revised piece at school and was astounded by the surprise.  “You are the only one who can make something out of nothing again and again,” the teacher said amid the laughter.  I have to confess, I did struggle with a straight face when writing.  I’ll post the revised essay on the “Consider the Cuisinart” page.  Frightened by the “Dexter” episodes tho I liked the characters.
  • Reading:  Comforted by the familiar characters in the DE Stevenson books.  Moved on to an equally familiar Elizabeth Cadell.
  • Balance:  Finishing the inking and moving on to the color in thhe “Hodad’s” drawing.

    1. My left knee hurts, more when it's been raining -- and we've had 7 or 8 inches this week. But I tell the doctor that if I got this old and didn't have anything that hurts, it would be embarrassing.

    2. You write well and bring sunshine into my life almost every day. I hope you heal quickly. They had David up within 24 hours of surgery which astounded me. He is so strong. Must be all the AA? Dianne

    4. Love your writing, there is so much interesting stuff going on around us and a lot of us just rush by unaware. You bring it out for all to see, a great gift, thanks for sharing.

    6. Glad you are up and ready for this surgery and want to repair fast. Just follow your doctor's pace and do not get discouraged if it takes you longer than you expected or if you find working through pain a challenge. You will get there, I know.

    7. I appreciate how you put aging in perspective for me with sly comparisons such as a 19-year-old master brake cylinder with a 71-year-old hip.

Savored my catch-up reading of your posts today.
