"Mrs. Tim Carries On

Books, Books, and more….

I lost my bid for the D. E. Stevenson book, “Mrs. Tim Carries On” on eBay this morning.  I have all the other’s in the series that cover quiet Mrs. Tim’s adventures before, during, and after WWII.  This book was based on Stevenson’s actual diaries as an officer’s wife.

While prices of the other volumes in the series run about fifteen dollars on eBay, Alibris, and Abe Books, “Mrs. Tim Carriers On” starts at fifty and goes well into the two hundred range.  I can only guess why, but I’m not paying fifty bucks for an ex-library book with heavy use and broken spine.  You can hear me growl.

The heavy humidity in the air is encouraging my molds to grow.  I walked into the bedroom last night after it had been sealed up all day to be confronted by a wall of mold.  It might be the furniture…it was all growing a gentle grey mold at the moldy big house, but it’s probably the books.  Right now I’m not having a mold hunt, but if I find the guilty party whatever it is will be dead.

The new “Mrs. Tim Carries On” won’t have any mold.  Once I find it, I will isolate it from the rest of the house.  I’m still growling.

Life is Really in the Footnotes:
He’s also begun a blog here on Blogger.  He will be in Carlsbad for the next two days.  I’ll fix him simple Weight Watcher dinners that will hold.  He’s training to take over for the managers who are going on vacation.

  • Herself:  I’ve slept the last two nights through getting up only once.  That perks me up.  Work at the Discovery Shop this morning….with books.  I’ll last as long as I can.

  • Reading:  The third of the Joe Leapwell mysteries.

  • Balance:  Napping just one hour yesterday.  He remembered to wake me up.

    1. I've collected series of books, too. I started with the classics, leather bound and accented with gold. I also have a series of photography books - A Day in the Life of (fill in with a country). I got so obsessed with trying to have all of them at one time. :) So I know how you feel. Good luck with finding a reasonably priced copy of the book you want.

    2. Yes, I can hear the growling...;) or is this another earthquake?

And no, as much as I wanted it, I would not pay that much for a book, either.

    3. Sorry about the mold, I have the same problem in my house at times. I'm sad when I find it's my books.

Good luck with the Mrs. Tim search.

    4. Sorry about the mold...I never thought about that being a problem when you live in that climate. Good luck finding that book too. It sounds very interesting.
