Raising the Costa Concordia

I’ve been fascinated by the raising of the Costa Concordia ever since she capsized on the shores of Tuscan island of Giglio in January 2012, with the loss of 32 lives.  Many other’s around the world have been following this engineering feat online.  Yesterday I struggled to connect to the Giglio Cam, this morning, I couldn’t get there. 

I tried several backdoor’s, and I found G captain has the best coverage.  The BBC, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24104643 has several camera’s so you can watch the Costa Concordia rise by her waterline.

I’d planned on going to the pool this morning, but at the rate they are raising the Concordia, she will be level by the time I get back.

      Unfortunately our news is crammed with the Navy Yard shooting this morning. !!! When will this end? All we needed at that yard was a few good men with guns...

      I'm really looking forward to finding out if all their planning works and they're actually able to raise it. It is such an eyesore. I hear they are still prosecuting the captain.

      Fascinating! Too bad I can't watch now. I'm on my iPhone, sitting in my car, waiting for my daughter to finish her piano lesson. Also too bad, actually horrific, are the shootings. Sad. Frustrating. Anger inducing.

      Wow! As i type this I have the Reuters feed open in another window, can hear the splash of the sea around the Costa Concordia. Awe-inspiring effort! I'd have totally missed this if I hadn't read your entry. Thank you!

      I am totally awed at the thought of a photograph THAT clear from 300 miles up in space... Never going out without hair combed and lipstick on... ever! LOL
