Messy, Messy Soul

You know how it goes, you lay something down and there it sits.  You forgot something in the garage and set down whatever is in your hand to go get it.  There all those abandoned important things all sit sometimes in piles, sometimes scattered about floor to floor.

My whole house is filled with the detritus of my living today.  I’m grateful to be alive, but you would think that by now I would have learned that a tidy house mirrors a tidy soul.  Not me.  I live an impassioned life of abandoned things and only regret it when I begin to fall over things onto my face.

Slowly I am getting rid of stuff.  Frankly, I’m very proud of myself.  Most of the kitchen shelves are tidy now, and only one disaster remains.  A Fibber McGee and Molly type of top shelf.  I confess that I jammed the foam green apples in there and pushed the door shut the day I made the living room red.

You know I have to do something about that.  Today would be nice.  And I need to water the plants too.

Life is Really in the Footnotes:

  • Himself:  Having fun at work.  Music fills the office as he plays with his internet radio.  Tonight, we will eat early then set up for the Holiday Extravaganza at the Discovery shop.

  • Herself:  Cleaning up after myself then displaying four boxes of holiday books plus helping others at the store.

  • Reading:  Finished the second Manor House Mystery.  Well writen but predictable.  Mannered.

  • Balance:  0645 meeting.

    1. Sometimes shoving stuff away is the best way to deal with it (in the moment). No worries.

    6. That's exactly how it goes in my house. Your life looks so interesting, don't worry.

    8. Art tends to be the one to leave things here and there meaning to get back to it sometime. I'm trying to clean up things we don't need. Problem is I sometimes overdo it. Sigh...

    9. Ah, finally I'm catching up here. This post resonates. My last several days have been busy and right now my house is "filled with the detritus of my living". All those little "can be left" things were, all over the house. Oops! Today maybe I'll find some time to get them back into order again. Maybe.
