Mother and Daughter + MORE

Mother and daughter, 2013.

I love Wednesdays.  All those wonderful books to triage and shelve.  Unfortunately  yesterday, there weren’t a lot of books.  We did have some really good children’s books tho badly worn.  Instead of the $125.00 they would have been priced at if they were in very good condition, I put $15.00 on them.  I hope they find a home for they are charming.

Every news source in town is talking Chargers, and one even has changed their set colors to blue and gold.  The new library is lit up at night in blue and gold.  Flags fly from many houses.  Clip on flags flap from many more cars.  T shirts abound, and stickers are stuck.  Acres of new TV’s were bought for this team that’s a 10 point underdog to win the upcoming game.  Where baseball used to be the number one sport in America, now football is king, and the Chargers are number one in San Diego.

It is still slightly awkward doing the journal from the bedroom.  The first time I did it, everything worked easily.  This time, the computer couldn’t find the network and it wasn’t online.  I know, complaints get me nowhere.  I was just grateful G stuck around until everything was operational.

Daughter Margot is coming down for the morning.  She will go through the clothes, and she will take away all the bears that block the hall.  I found here a desk at work that might do for her two computers….Zoe has one too.  It’s awfully big, and it won’t fit on or in the back of the truck.  We will see what she says when she get’s here.  I’m so looking forward to the time together.

+ More:  She fit most of my discarded clothes.  They are gone.  What’s left I took to the Discovery shop.  She didn’t like the desk….too big.  I thought so too.  We both loved the mountain of new plus sized things that had come in.  She found one shirt she loved, and I found a brand new, Land’s End, dark rose colored, velvet blazer.  It fits perfectly.  I bought both.  We left the store laughing.  I went to the bank where I discovered that our senior moments were real.  No passports in the lock box.  The cleaners were closed too.  I took my depression home to discover G at the top of the stairs waving the envelope containing the passports.

All is now right with the world.

  • Himself:  Work…”and nothing else planned.”
  • Herself:  Enjoying Margot’s company.  Doing house stuff.  Keeping life simple.
  • Reading:  Franklin and Winston.
  • Balance:  Not confusing myself any more than usual.

    4. Professional football with all its tax breaks and money sumps and brain concussions is not something I am interested in...but it does keep kids off the street and is better than throwing people to the lions as they used to do for entertainment. I DID watch one game this year for nostalgia, though. My daughter throws out tons of kids books every year and it breaks my librarian heart!

    5. I am looking forward to the Super Bowl. Hubby predicts Seattle vs. Denver.

    6. So a senior moment split between two equals half a senior moment each.

    8. A great day. Nice when your daughter can use your clothes. Too bad about the desk. I need a new desk too, but want one of those mod things that hold computers and other stuff. I may get to Franklin and Winston yet. Must be a good book to hod your interest this long. Dianne

    9. I love that photo!
How good that your daughter could take your discarded clothes. And that you both found bargains at the thrift shop.
I smiled in sympathy at your senior moments re the passports. As we get older, I swear there are gremlins who come in and temporarily remove some of our possessions! I'm so glad those passports turned up!

    10. Awwww... Mage. That is such a sweet photo of you and your daughter. You're lucky your dad will wear your clothes. My daughter is so fussy. I will wear some of hers, but she won't wear mine.
