On Any Holiday

On the Star of India.

Our Holiday at Sea has advanced a day, and I am scurrying around finishing tomorrow's errands today.  Suitcases up, change the pages in the Appointment book…yes, we still use an paper appointment book, let everybody know we aren’t home, and especially let security know.  Acres of small things I had put off till tomorrow instead tomorrow seems to be today.

I should make a poem out of
counting underwear, of
counting socks and shirts, and all the
diamonds I don’t have in hand
to wear on formal night
as formal night is formal night
on any sea, on any holiday.
Laughter is allowed as are dreams
and smiles and love,
on any holiday.

  • Himself:  He is on Vacation.  He’s allowed to confuse dates.  It’s a first.
  • Herself:  Enjoyed last night.  Over my headache about todau, disappointed that we will be missing a night on the QM, but looking forward to four nights at sea and a Jeep ride.
  • Reading:  Nothing but I have a pile to take with me.
  • Balance:  Not worrying about any of it.

    4. Yes, I remember one overseas trip that I thought was the following morning and then looking at my "appointment book" realized it was that very afternoon! Talk about heart skipping a beat. Put your feet up and watch the horizon disappear into the distance when your get there. Have your lady in waiting unpack.
