Our
friend Mike Hardin died yesterday. He died on a
trip north to visit his daughter.
I
used to eat at Hodad’s when his folks founded it. When they died, they left it to an employee
and Mike. Mike bought her out, and began
expanding the restaurant. Food Network “Diners,
Drive-in’s, and Dives” stated that Hodad’s burgers were the best in the
US. Mike himself was a larger than life restaurateur that was much beloved throughout our city.
He will be much missed.
Himself: He worked. Work, work, work. At lunch, he mended one of my plastic coats
with a spot of invisible glue. Found
Laka’s birthday present.
Herself: Started the day with the last visit
with my PT person. Lovely break for mid
day desert with a special friend. She
too graduated from State, I discovered. Finished
mending that quilt, finished a mystery, dinner was Bonnie Dumainis’s salad and
a baked potatoe.
Reading: Finished the mystery and on to the
next.
Balance:
Trying not to worry
about friends in peril.
He was way too young. We will miss him.
ReplyDeleteMage and George, so sorry your friend died. Hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteWorry is a useless emotion. I'm sure you had great fun at this place. I hope Mike was not in pain when he died. I am beginning to think a speedy death is the best way to go. Take care. I tell David, if he finds me in the garden unconscious, just let me die happy.
ReplyDeleteDad had a heart attack in his garden and they saved him so he could die two years later with bone cancer. It was awful.

This is a tough time in our lives as we age and lose those we know...those who are our age or even younger. Something we all must go through and worry is not going to help. Just jot down things your like about the person when they are on your mind. Tuck it away until next time. Think about them as much as you like, but do not worry unless you have control over the outcome.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear of your loss. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your friend. Sending a hug in the hope that the good memories you have of him will bring you comfort.
