Leaning Towers...a gift for you!

Finished Leaning Tower of Piza's in the Fridge, 2006.

Why are they called Leaning Towers of Pisa? Because you can take bite after bite in thin slices around the edges of this desert to make a tiny leaning tower. The one whose tower stands longest wins.
Here is how we make these delightful chocolate cookie treats complements of my Grandma Mary who got this version from her bridge group in the early 1920’s.

 1. Bring out your mixer and plug it in.
.
2.      Open two boxes of Nabisco Old Fashioned Chocolate wafers. Don't eat the broken cookies.
.
3.      Pour two containers, pints, of heavy cream into the mixer bowl.
.
4.     Begin whipping the cream.  It doubles in volume.  Don’t forget to whip enough cream, and whip it nice and stiff but don't turn it into butter.  Don’t add sugar.
.
5.      Lay out the cookies on plates, and begin putting a generous spoonful of whipped cream on each cookie.
.
6.      Layer one is done.
.
7.     Just push that cookie down on the whipped cream until there is some left between the cookies and some squishes out the sides. Oh, delicious. Add more layers till the cookie piles look like the picture on top.
.
8.      Cover lightly if you want, and refrigerate overnight. Make them one afternoon and eat them the next. These goodies are guaranteed to satisfy every grandchild, or child at heart and bring happiness to many generations.

Thanks Kay for reminding me to post this.  They’re not just for kids anymore.

  4. They look good, all right, but they would probably throw me into a sugar coma!

  5. I would just whip the cream and eat it out of the bowl. I love whipped cream, but cannot eat due to lactose intolerance. Sigh.
