A Green Day

Knotted seat or step on a barrel.

Mother and Gunny used to take me to McDini’s for corned beef when I was a kid.  Talking about this in the pool this morning, and all the folks that grew up here did this.  Not for me this year.  Imagine, all that salt, and the carbs from the potatoes.  We think not.

Maybe I will deconstruct the dish.

Wikipedia tells me that, “The potato is a starchy, tuberous crop from the perennial nightshade Solanum tuberosum L.”  Tomatoes are next in the family, and the Apiaceae family will include celery, parsley, and quite a list of herbs….some of which are poisonous.   Perhaps I will make an old fashioned pot roast….a little meat roasted with a bouquet garni and tomatoes.  It’s sort of a foggy grey day and perfect for a pot roast.

  • Himself:  Gym.  Bringing out the suitcases.  Work.  Looking forward to going fishing Friday.
  • Herself:  Swim, bringing up the suitcases, cleaning out the ice box, and other mundane things to keep me moving.
  • Reading:  Ball…but ordered 3 Johnsons from ABE Books.
  • Gratitudes:  That I’m alive an enjoying my days.

  • Happy St. Paddy's day to you all.

    4. We had corned beef and cabbage with just a very little potato, lots of cabbage and lots of carrots and onions. It was very good, but no matter how long I cooked that corned beef, it was still a little on the tough side. I wish they had Cook's corned beef in Hawaii.
