Morning Starts

I have a confession.  I’m a terrible grumph in the morning.  Once I have my coffee, life appears vastly brighter, and I am a much politer person.

Dear George brings me my coffee every single morning.  I always thank him and tell him I love him, but all I can do is hope he believes me at that early hour.  Coffee as well as a little something to put in my stomach before my too many meds.  Cottage cheese this morning.

Either he or I roll the bed from the open sliders to in front of the bookcases.  I climb in and am greeted by a lap tray.  To the side sit a book, the coffee, the controller, and the meds and sprays.  (Allergies are a hassle, did I say that.)  In front of me sits the TV.  I also dislike teasers.  If a station fills my ears with five minutes of those awful things I switch channels or turn off the sound.  All the weather ladies and young and buxom with hair curled over their shoulders.  Grumble, grumble…

With the volume off, my opinions subside.  And by 0610 or so, I am here at my computer first posting to the Facebook Discovery Shop Point Loma page.  Next I glance at my Facebook friends and family.  Grandkid pictures?  I save every one.  Dear Abby returns me to the land of the living, I take a quick look at Prosebox and Blogger, and win one game of solitaire before I head to the pool.

By 0930, I’m home, have had my yougurt with yellow sugar, and I have read all of you that I can get to with or without notes.  If I stay here longer than that, I will be here forever.  That’s not my goal.  G may be up here forever, but I like to get out into the sunshine….punch up my vitamin D, smile a bit.

Sometimes rituals are good things….mine work for right now.  Thanks again, dear G.

  • Himself:  Got his last meds from Blue Shield yesterday.  Hardwired the Blueray player into the modem so we can now get Netflix effortlessly.  Helped me find my wallet this morning.
  • Herself:  Really hard work moving three month old books “out” and not enough books “in” yesterday.  Made the shelves look full anyway.  Groceries.  Dinner.  Out with G.  This mornning, I looked everywhere for my wallet then went to the gym to get G.  After a duplicate search, he found it on the floor in the living room next to my chair.  Thanks dear G.
  • Reading:  I’m not inspired by a new to me author.  Also reading two big illustrated books on the Civil War.
  • Gratitudes:  G finding my wallet.

    1. Terry always brings me coffee in bed too. But we both have to get going early, because around here if it doesn't get done by noon it doesn't get done. That's life in the tropics. Luckily both of us are at our best in the a.m. and wind down by early afternoon, siesta time. We revive somewhat in the evening, maybe go for a walk. Watch something on Netflix if we are not too tired. In bed by ten.

    2. Rituals make life easier is my thought. I like the predictability too.

You life is settled into a comfortable pattern of pleasant experiences. Enjoy!

    3. i'm like Hattie, if it's not done by noon, it probably won't be done. Evening is my grumpy time. I just get unbearable in the evening as I become more and more depressed as the sun sets and another day ends.

      2. If only! Last night I was so depressed, what with my bug bites, I could hardly stand myself.

    4. Every time I see a photo of your bedroom I go work on mine some more. Thing I'll hang pictures this time. Yours looks like such a relaxing place.

    6. I've turned into a turtle with its head withdrawn. I've quit writing but reading you makes me want to write again. I think it's grief showing and I know that time will fix it, but until then... Hugs to you for being here and for writing.

    7. Where have I been? I check posts twice a week and have divorced FB for now, so don't see you there. Connie sent 4 batches of shots from their Utah trip and says if I want to see them or my great-grandchild, i must come back to FB. She is so mean to me!

    10. I have my coffee almost instantaneously. I walk across the hall from the bedroom and hit the tassimo. If I was 'with it' the night before, I already have it filled with water with the pod and mug both in position.
