Success

Trying to discard ornaments.

I am a total failure at discarding Christmas ornaments.  We did get one box ready to go out…but will hold it until next year.  The shop still has too many unsold things from this year.  George got the little tree unboxed and set up with no failure at all.  The lights worked one more year….hurrah.  I put a few ornaments on it then we left to eat cake at the Friday meeting.

I’m a failure at carbohydrates too.  Thursday I had some corn, stuffing, and a slice of pumpkin pie.  Friday I had quiche but not all the crust.  Friday night I ate a tiny slice of cake.  Ah guilt.

Today I am going to be heroic.  The tree will be hung with collectable ornaments, I will have one, just one, pancake for lunch, and for dinner there won’t be a carb in sight.  Slowly we get the season together.

George set up the little tree…and all the lights work.

  • Himself:  He had a ball shopping the big stores on Black Friday.  He dropped me off at work and picked me up afterwords.  The trunk was full of things.  Today he’s going to work.  LOL
  • Herself:  They shopped the store yesterday, but not heavily.  Very few donations.  They were all at the mall.  Lost five more pounds.  Laughing.
  • 52 Week House Reorganization:  When I am done hanging the blue and turquoise ornaments, I am thinking that maybe I will discard the unused balls.  Maybe.
  • Reading:  Not one thing.  OMG.
  • Gratitudes:  So very glad I have George in my life.

    2. I think we have reached the time for a smaller tree. The big one is so heavy we didn't even bring it up and I am thinking I should hurry and donate it! Yep, you need to back away from the carbs until Christmas Day, and now you can tell me the same thing. I NEVER lose a pound. Such a discouragement. I am gifting myself with subscriptions to the liberal press, which I have little time to read, but want to support. I also donated to the SPLC for the holidays.

      1. We are making an effort to support small local businesses and the Salvation Army. Sallies Army has some excellent housing for seniors, and I want the small stores to stay open. Yes, we donated the big tree to the ACS shop.

    3. I'm still fighting lung congestion and fatigue but have been enjoying the holiday season anyway. I like your little tree. We will get a small tree, too, because we have grandkids coming to visit.

    4. Oh I fell off the wagon for Thanksgiving too and sure enough my blood sugar showed it the following morning. I'll be good again though................ once the left overs are gone. :-)

We did go out yesterday and bought a small tree that we wouldn't have to worry about when my grandson comes to visit in a few weeks. He is a bundle of energy and I'm glad I had a collection of soft, unbreakable ornaments to put up for him.

    5. We gave away almost all of our Christmas decorations when we moved to Tehachapi. We'd just about quit putting up decorations for the season. We have one 6' tree that we set up in the corner of the dining room -- it has lights already on it so all we have to do is plug it in and voila! we have Christmas. I put homemade decorations on it, but when we're in AZ, I only put up a ceramic Christmas tree. Very little decorations over there. Lots of baking in either place, though. Baking is good...

    6. That first photo of you surrounded by containers in the living quarters made me laugh because it's pretty much what's going on around here. Kudos in getting things together so quickly.

    7. Believe it or not, that tree is bigger than ours, which is pre-lit and holds no ornaments. It's pretty enough though, and we have other decorations.

    8. Love your tree. It's about the same size as mine. Not sure if I'm going to haul it up or not. Tehachap's ceramic tree sounds like the next step. I still put up a pretty Nativity set I've had for eons. I can't bring myself to give away my tree decorations yet.

    9. Can't wait to see the finished tree! I hit that 'subscribe to post' thing and assume it will come to my email when you post. :-) Time for me to get back to reading interesting blogs.
