WHAT TO WEAR

This year we are going to other’s gatherings.  The Discovery Shop’s volunteer party is today.  At least it isn’t formal.  On the fifteenth we go to George’s formal company party.  (Formal…us?)  We are trying hard to finish paying off the last of our Panama tour bills, so I worry about creating a new look in clothing on very little money.

George can wear his several year old, perfectly ok, black suit….speaking of formal.  I have a navy blue evening dress with a little beading, one size to small.  At the store, I found a smoke colored silk gown….very simple, with an almost bustier, seamed and gored over-top.  I watched it for two months until one day it vanished.  I saw it again on the half priced rack, tried it on,  and with my two discounts, volunteer and veteran, I got it for fourteen dollars.

Yes, I had to buy a bra.  Sports bra’s don’t’ quite bring things up to standard.

  • Himself:  Noon: Wearing dark pants, white polo, black jacket.  Tonight: dark suit, striped shirt, mad tie, and a smile.
  • https://www.facebook.com/>Herself:>   Noon:  Red T-shirt…5 bucks, Black jacket, red woven scarf, multicolor red beads all from the Discovery shop, and black pants from Ross.  Black shoes from Ross too.
  • Reading:  Still on the first Mark Pryor.
  • Captain Poolie:  The Pain: Broken bones in her spine.  She thinks morphine is wonderful stuff.  I wish they had checked this out a month ago when she first started complaining of pain.
  • Gratitude’s:  That we got through “December Nights,” but boy I don’t really want to do that again.

  2. Is December Nights the museum event? sorry to be so stupid. Your outfit sounds wonderful. We rarely go to anything formal unless it is a wedding, so I can pretty much dress up or down as I like!

    1. No, it is a City of San Diego event held in our large center park. All the museums are open and rides and food trucks abound. Lots of fun unless you are working it.

  5. I wouldn't have a thing to wear to a formal event -- and no place in this town to buy something appropriate, especially shoes! Congrats on your frugal shopping. Love it!!!

  7. Gotta love this line: "Sports bra’s don’t’ quite bring things up to standard." Gotta get 'things' UP to standard.

    1. Go to Facebook, and then to The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop/Point Loma. Click on the album and you can see each picture even of George.

  9. Oh awesome! Congratulations on your purchase. That is a super wonderful deal. I don’t think we’ll have any holiday parties to attend this year because we are... ummmm... otherwise occupied. I’ll tell you all when we get back to normal.
