BLOGS, BLOGGING, AND COLLAPSING AGAIN

Changes.  Everything always changes.

I started blogging many years ago on some hard to use site.  My blog’s name was Day Tripper.  It was fitting as I had been a day tripper not so many years before.  I puttered my way around the web until I found Open Diary.  What a comfortable place to stay, and there I was until it started falling apart.

Falling apart wasn’t good, so I went out and started a new blog on Blogger as a backup.  By now I had made changes myself and discovered I loved taking pictures.  I named the new blog http://urban-archology.blogspot.com/>Postcards.  Short, sweet, mutterings illuminated by a picture.  At least, that’s how I thought of it.

Back-ups are good.  So I started a backup blog on Wordpress as Postcards 2.  It was harder for me to use even with a template.  As Open Diary began to slide downward, one writer started Prosebox.   I had to figure out new coding to use in my template, but I moved over there as Postcards 4 after moving off Wordpress.  It was a good backup to Blogger, and I found most of my OD friends already there when OD signed off.

Prosebox worked well for five years.  It’s being shut down on the 15th of April.  OD has just reinvented itself as a pay site.  Since I signed on as a paid member “for life,” I hope I still am.

I’m headed off to work at an AA convention, and I want to leave you my addresses before I leave.  I’m not lost.  I’m not going away except for four days.  I don’t want to lose any of my friends.

  • Herself:  Today laundry and start to pack.  Haircut at one.  Try on Comic Con wig after haircut.  Tomorrow work, get ice and pack cooler for 2 meals a day for 4 days, help move stuff from storage.  Finish packing.  Thursday check in to the hotel room for Ann…a member of G’s committee, and Margot who will also be leading a meeting.

  9. Busy lady! I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow (today)--finally! I've been overdue for a cut for weeks but too sick to sit in a chair long enough to get it done. Still coughing and have a request in by my dr. for a pulmonary specialist. Cie la vie... it is what it is. She says I have beginning Emphysema/COPD. Inhalers work if I get enough of the drugs in my system -- that and a couple cups of good coffee. I can breathe for a few hours. By the end of the day I'm hitting the inhalers again. :/

    1. I am so sorry about the diagnosis. I only use the inhalers at night to get a cough free sleep. I'm still coughing from the flu two times ago. Just take care of yourself. we care.

  10. You've really been around the blogs. I started on Blogger and after experiments with Word Press, came back to it. I even used a Word Press template on my own internet site for awhile.

    Enjoy your time away.

    1. You can back your blog up on Word and this saves all the comments. :) If I need to, I copy and paste. Love your current header picture.

  12. I too tried some other sites. Cowbird was a good one but it closed down. I was blogging BlogSpot but somehow I found it difficult to find the posts of other bloggers. I am enjoying WordPress. Regards.

  13. Enjoy your convention, Mage. I am happy you have kept both a journal and have been blogging. I tried it and wasn't regular enough. I think my life is made of of notes, letters and emails to friends. I think I'm not THAT interesting until people tell me to write a book. :) Geez...time passes.
