FIRST THINGS

I’m having a good time reading a memoir that actually has details.  Like, what does she really do first thing in the morning?  Me…I pull the covers up over my head as Mr. Pillow comes marching in and dumps itself right where my head is.

Dear G wakes me us with smiles, marching bed pillows, half a slice of toast and coffee.  That’s love.  I used to be a terrible grumph in the mornings.  I’m sure I drove my children mad with my hangover anger in the mornings.  Now, facing G’s determined good humor, I can’t be my awful morning self any more.

I waddle into the office waking my joints slowly, and I post to the ACS Facebook page hoping to find something clear to say about what ever picture I stick up.  Most days I write for my blog too.  Thanks to OD’s demise, I have three blogs all needing different coding.  By then I have had a second piece of toast and almost finished my coffee.  Sometimes, the bits of grey matter work at this point.

Clothes…I don’t have a photo of my closet.  You would laugh to see it.  There’s probably two of something in every color.  Not enough green.  Three if it is black.  I lay out my working clothes the night before.  That way, no brains are required when it’s time to get dressed.

By seven thirty I have time to shower, see above, dress, pack my work backpack with stuff and cameras plus batteries.  The store camera isn’t my camera.  Drop my lunch bag into the backpack, (it’s orange plaid so I can find it)…check for keys so I don’t have to climb back up to the third floor to get them…and go down to the garage to pick my shoes.  Yes, they are down there keeping themselves off the carpet.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
  • Himself:  They are letting staff go.  Not G.  He is taking half a day off as SDG&E are shutting off our power this afternoon.  I get off work at one, so we plan an afternoon of gallivanting around.  Meeting.
  • Herself:  No rain.  It was mostly north of us.  Tiny disappointing showers.  Today: Work, gallivanting, meeting.
  • Reading:  Just finished an Irish Doctor’s novel and am on to a Memoir.
  • Watching:  The final “Longmire” season.  The books aren’t negative, but the show is so I postponed watching the last episodes.
  • Gratitude’s:  That G mended my blue glasses.  I cannot read using the red ones.

  1. I don’t talk for a while after I get up in the morning, a silent grump. My husband is wide awake from the minute his foot hits the floor. Somehow, it works!

  2. Your home looks so pleasant. I used to pop out of bed wide eyed and bushy tailed but the last few years I am more likely to stagger around for a bit in a fog until I've had some coffee. Not grumpy though.

  3. Love your bathroom. It's bigger than mine, and beautiful.

  4. I was a bit disappointed in the final Longmire season...if that is the one I watched at the last. Yes, he is not the communicative type, but really? Anyway, I did enjoy the series. DIL was laid off in February and is still job hunting. My son is still working, but he could be laid off in 6 to 12 months as well. Keeping our fingers crossed. Your bathroom belongs in House and Garden or one of those Southern magazines.

    1. So sorry about the job losses.
The previous bathroom was in Better Homes and Gardens and won a contest. LOL

  5. Ooh, your bathroom is so neat. How nice you have such a positive wake up person in G. Makes a difference.
