NOTES BEYOND PIZZA

In the last of the May Grey, we headed off to Costco yesterday before our usual round of evening news.  I worry about the families on Hawaii, but I don’t care a fig for Rosanne.  She’s leading the news.  I really am angry about Trump also, still I truly care about our country.  I care about our world also, come to think of it.

He spent the day making a Costco list.  Having been broke for many years, I always ask first, “Do we have any money?”  We did.

So after pizza and a Very Berry Sunday, I bought cookies.  I got one of those giant jars of animal crackers.  Yes, I know I certainly don’t need the calories, but I buy them for the store.  I grab a handful on days that I am there, but everyone else must grab a few too.  They vanish fast.  They also weren’t on the list.

The list was, fiber, Angus burgers, muffins, and G’s breakfast protein drink.  We walked out with a whole cart full.  A book with new pictures of Ocean Beach, then blueberry muffins, and a pre-cooked chicken, followed by the fiber, and lastly an American flag.  Yes, a modern flag with 50 stars.  Our flag is a 48 star flag.  This new one is a class act that came with a pole too.

I confess.  I react.  The airways are full of commercials for the upcoming election.  I already voted.  I don’t want to hear any more.  I confess this is the first time I have voted a full party ticket.  In reaction, I know.  I’m going to hang that American flag out above the front door too.  In reaction.

  • Himself:   A lighter load than Tuesday.  Being lazy about the gym…I fully understand.
  • Herself:  I don’t wave my politics here, but it’s time we all get out and vote our convictions.  Have a coach coming this afternoon with how-to tips on sit ups with broken ribs.  Picture: 2007.  Yes, the pizza was perfection with gooey melting cheese and tons of veggies.
  • Reading:  Hillerman.
  • Watching:  NG’s, “One Strange Rock.”
  • Gratitudes:  Feeling so very much better.

    1. I am sorry to say I always buy more than my list allows.

    2. I refuse to pay a store to shop there, so one reason for no Costco shopping. Everything they have is TOO big for us. We live in a small house with no extra storage. There are just the two of us and we use very little of anything. That's the main reason I refuse to shop at Costco. A third reason, the store is too big and cumbersome for me to manage.

  2. Is your November ballot set already that you can vote on it in May? Are issues already set, too? As a former local government employee, I am impressed!

    2. I've already sent in my ballot, too. I pretty much always vote a straight party ticket, but have occasionally faltered when a woman was running. Now, I vote the party and especially women of the party who run. Terry chided me for my Delaine Eastin vote b/c I didn't think much of her as Supt of Schools but she's the only female democrat running for Governor so I had to.

  3. Hee hee Costco. The nearest one is 70 miles away but a fellow here has a nice side business of taking orders and filling them and delivering them to you.

  6. I do love Costco, Mage. We got a huge tray of strawberries last week for $2.99. Good grief! How awesome is that? I ALSO LOVE that photo of you and G. You are the cutest couple. After next week, I’ll be taking a month long hiatus until my arm heals.

  8. Ooh, I am glad we don't have a Costco here. Too easy to over shop. Voting is the one power we have left. Like you, I plan to keep flexing that muscle.
