I’ve been really slow on the
uptake lately. I keep a backup blog at
Prosebox from the old OD days. I hadn’t notice
that one of my favorite people had not written in a month. She talked about being tired, being slow, and
letting the world around her fade away.
I wrote back that not only am I fading,
but my ability to write and other my enthusiasms are fading too. I eat, I nap.
Sometimes, if not interrupted, the nap can last three hours long. I eat less, which is good, but my dessert
desires have grown. I pull into the
garage from work or an errand, and sometimes I just sit there mindlessly. My blog entries have little content, and I
reuse photographs…sometimes I forget to take my camera when I go out.
I’ve been forgetting words for
years, but lately it’s gotten much worse.
I’m good at forgetting my teeth…now that’s embarrassing, and my ears…“Eh,
what did you say.” I’ve always had a
badly damaged short term memory, but now days I seem to have great gaps in
it.
I’ve made a doctor’s appointment
ostensibly for my knee, but I will include hip, back, and fading away at the
appointment. I will let you know.

- Himself: Work at 6am this morning. PT, dinner, and a meeting later. Tomorrow night big party. Monday he has to work half a day.
- Myself: Finished with work until the27th when a big book donation is to arrive.
- Reading: I’ve reached famed economist’s JKG’s post-doctoral years.
- Gratitude’s: George.
The words we lose...so frustrating...really hinders conversation.
ReplyDeleteRight here with you, the dratted word thing. I never had great short term memory either. Glad to see you still write in spite of it all. Hugs to you Mage.
ReplyDeleteI started losing nouns a decade ago. We all have certain stages of senility, but there are times when there should be more attention and preparation for this. I have a close person who may be slowly getting senile, but I am not paying enough attention...yet.
ReplyDeleteWe need doctors today who specialize in "fading away."
ReplyDeleteBut you remember to post, and you remembered to decorate your cars for the holidays. That's pretty good. :)
ReplyDeleteYou sure do a better job than me in getting your blog posts written. Due to a lighter schedule this week, I have tried hard to write every day this week, but I know that when the Christmas break is over, I will again be so busy during the week that blog posts will be intermittent.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say something, but I can't remember what it was.......
ReplyDeleteWhat ever would we do without our other halves? (i.e., George for you and Robert for me). We require more patience than ever before, with ourselves and with others. I have one more card to do and I will be finished for this year. Happiness is. Blessings to you both... love you!
