WORLD AIDS DAY

Memories.  These are some of the blocks and panels that Sister Margaret’s Sewing ladies helped build for the AIDS Quilt.  It was hard for me to go to displays of the AIDS Quilt and find friends I hadn’t known died.  Once a week, friends and family came to the old St. John’s’ church to make panels for their special people.  Dale came to make a panel and stayed to the very last.  Three friends of Sr. Margaret came to sew, and they too stayed till we closed the workshops.

December first is World AIDS day.  The disease is still with us.  Here are just a few so I can remember.

  1. There has been progress in the battle against AIDS but we will not settle foranything short of eradication of that terrible disease.

  2. So sorry for the loss of your friends to such an awful disease. It has scared the world for far too long.

  3. We have a long way but still have a ways to go. AIDS needs to achieve the status of polio--gone.
