A MELTED JAR

Photo: PAH> Melted jar taken for a SW college flyer.

Photo: Paul took a great many photos at this site in the back country of Chula Vista.  There was a barn, leaning toward the sunset, there were his children, his models, and his friends.  This particular picture did not show any sharp blacks or whites, just greys.  I have a copy of the flyer, and this finished photograph is all greys as it is presented.

I photo shopped it, as I have done all his images, (oh guilt), increasing the contrast, taking out much of the many years of damage, and darkening areas plus lightening other areas.  There is still something that looks like brush work around the neck of the jar.  I left it.

  • Himself:  Met at the office yesterday with the IT team from Portugal.  They are  going to rebuild the basic platform their company runs on.  Long drive each way.  Then….
  • Myself:  …he drove me to the nearest Scripps HealthExpress.  After 4 days of coughing all night rather than sleeping, I was feeling fragile.  Bronchitisy.  The cold had reached the top of my lungs and was a heavy weight there.  Now days they give an antibiotic backed up with another antibiotic reinforced by a steroid.  They went over my allergy list with a fine tooth comb, and again at the pharmacy.  Yes too, I am feeling pickled.

  1. I hate those lung infections as they are so difficult to be rid of at our age. Take your meds, work on breathing, and I hope you finally get some sleep. Sometimes drugs are the only way. I am so sorry!! It took me over a month to get over my lung issue. Hubby caught one a few months ago and spent a couple of weeks just sleeping in the day. He could do that, luckily. Do you dare tell us about Paul, or is that too personal?

    1. No one really believed that I was ill, but they treated me after a struggle.
Paul Adams Hawkins. A great grandson of a president, and that pleased mother. We never told her of his extracurricular activities in the army. Art Center School where his dad divorced his mom but he paid the tuition. Worked part time as did I. Brilliant and made friend with the Art Center Biggies. Really good eye. By the time we moved to San Diego to ostensibly to run my parents business, he fell into the rhythm of the 60's. We failed. More college at Southwestern when it had a surprisingly excellent faculty. The guy who taught me life drawing ended up head of the UCLA Art Dept. Drugs, free love, peace marches, anti war this, and civil war that. One of the founders of the local Peace and Freedom party. One of the creators of Border Park. I cried a lot and he was mesmerizingly brilliant. How about that a summary up to the late 60's.

I hope your lung infection clears up soon. Take care, Mage!

  3. My neighbor recently explained that new lung lurgy protocol to me. Don't see why not. I can see the brush work in the blow up at the end. Fascinating.

    1. I think that brush work is an error, but I left it anyway.

  4. Careful, I had one of those bronchitis like things that ended up putting me in the hospital with mild pneumonia. Glad you are on antibiotics. Take care.

  5. Good for you. I thought perhaps your cold had migrated south to Bronchitis. It always does that to me. :/ We are so alike in this way. Be well... healing thoughts for you...
