I came upstairs after starting
the laundry to find all sorts of excitement out and front. Big red units with lights flashing. The street closed, and a scattering of blue
uniforms too. There we were right in the
heart of it.
Until recently, the lot across
the street was a small strip mall with a two story building at one end. When we moved in, there was a doggy care
store, a hair store, a studio, and the anchor store was a liquor store. Slowly all these enterprises moved out and up
the street. Then poof it was all gone,
giant digging machines came, and an underground garage was dug and lined with
the contents of cement mixer after mixer arriving in pairs. Somehow, they broke an unmarked gas line.
Yesterday was color and drama and
gratitude from us as the gas didn’t explode and force us to evacuate. We would peer out every once in a while to
see how they were doing. Here in
California, we have a shortage of living units in all price ranges. I’m afraid these will be in the $3,000.00 a
month range.

- Himself: It’s Friday and he has been on the phone a lot this morning.
- Myself: Talking to Bobbie too loudly George though.
- Photo: Mine.
- Reading: Still on HP #5.
- Gratitude’s: That we are still here and intact.
Oh my, you can live without that kind of excitement.

ReplyDeleteSo fortunate. Happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYe, glad you could ride it out!
ReplyDeleteGlad nothing blew up. That's very scary. Yes, it seems that no one is building low income housing.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! That really is scary, Mage. Thank goodness everything was OK. We have the same problem with housing in Hawaii. As for California, I remember when my sister-in-law was buying their home. They seemed to be buying way out in the boonies. It was just grassland in front of them. No stores, nothing. Now? I remember being shocked to see a huge town surrounding them with tons of shopping centers, restaurants, everything!
ReplyDeleteColourful photo and colourful day.
