CONSTRUCTION

·       There used to be a little corner shopping center across the street.          The anchor shop was a liquor store that wasn’t well patronized.  I didn’t see anything illegal there as I used to in the barrio liquor store.  Over the years the beauty parlor, the dog care store, the Guitar store, and one more rotating shop gave up the ghost and left.
·       Then poof, the whole complex was bulldozed, and an underground garage was dug.
·       Every morning now there is some bit of excitement across the street.  I think breaking that gas line put them well behind schedule.  Today we seem to have a parade of cement trucks rotating out in front.  I only heard some hammering yesterday.
·       The lot is a whole block, and they have filled up the block side to side with apartments.
·       I’m across the street with wall to wall trees and green grass.
·       There’s another brand new, complex just like this down the street.  They filled the whole lot side to side with town houses and driveways.  No charm like New York.  No Avant guard like LA.  Nope, just stucco and cement by the acre.
·       I thought Lady Bird was crazy when she began her Beautification plan.  Now I believe that we all need a little space, a little green, so our soul can have a little stillness.

Working, and watching the NCIS finale tonight.
·       Myself:   Still coughing. Nothing exciting today.  Tomorrow AM the new Pulmonary Doctor.  In the evening it’s the Mission Middle School performance of the “WIZ.”

Gratitude’s:  All but the continuing cough.

  1. Fresno has lovely, well kept parks on the north side of town, the side where the money lives. On the south side, where there is no money, the parks are very sad looking. We tried to get the city to spend some additional funds they had received on the parks. NO. Don't need to, was their reply.

  2. I so agree. We need to keep nature around us. It is good for us too.

  3. I was reading today there is nothing left in San Francisco except shoulder to shoulder people. I wonder if they perpetually look straight up to see blue sky.

    1. No, they live by the ocean or bay to feel free...like I do.

    I think so.

  5. There definitely have been studies that show seeing green in the outdoors makes ones healthier. That is why they put gardens and greenery in areas where old folks go. Could your cough be related to the construction...are their tiny particles in the air?

  6. I think Tabor has a point there about living near construction. We have lovely trees almost all over town that are nearly all from other parts of the country since we live in a prairie/desert environment. Our town is actually sort of an oasis due to a confluence of streams of rivers here. Everyone seems to have brought plants from their original homes with them. Out of town is all wheat and peas etc. for miles. It does make it lovely though and protects us somewhat from the intermittent wild dust storms that blow in.

  7. We need that space and green so we can breathe. Tabor has a point about the cough and construction.

  8. Hopefully the construction will ease off soon and peace and quiet will return. Sounds like a big project though.

  9. I agree that Ladybird really did a service to the country in trying to Keep America Beautiful.

I'm so sorry that you're still fighting that cough, Mage. I hope it's not painful. I remember one year that the cough turned into pleurisy which was no fun.
