MEASLES

FREEWINDS, The Scientology ship, Aruba, April 2, 2014.

Airports are quarantined.  Movie theaters are quarantined.  Schools are quarantined.  The ship, above, is quarantined as a crew member has measles.  I saw it on the news tonight, and I had to laugh.  L. Ron Hubbard wanted his own cruise ship.  What did he get but a very old, small  ferry.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

  • Himself:  Worked hard, washed my hair, wanted to stay home tonight.
  • Myself:  Post Op #2; eyes tomorrow morning at 0915.
  • Photo:  Mine in Aruba in 2014.
  • Reading:  Still on Harry Potter number 5.
  • Gratitude’s:  I’ve been a bit much for George, and he has been a little crotchety.  Maybe the doc will let him loose tomorrow.

  2. Can you believe that measles is a thing again?

  3. All these anti-vaxxers make me crazy. My mother lost an infant son to diphtheria in the 1930s. I never missed a vaccine from the time I was born until now. How can you not want to prevent illness?

As for caretaking, it is a very stressful undertaking. My blood pressure and arthritis flares have been due to the stress of the extra work while Terry has not been well.

    1. The anti-vax folks are just afraid. I think they are fools to let this cause such horror. I love that kid who stood up to them and had the shots. The doctor's and my parents told me that I lost my eyesight because of measles.

Yes, caretaking is a very hard job. George has been caretaking me through these two surgeries. I so appreciate it. Now he is going in for more, and it will be my turn to caretake him. :)

  4. Shocked that we are beset by measles again. It's so ignorant.

Hope you two get a break soon. Love to you both.

    1. They believe in lies. Ignorant is a very good word.

  5. I wonder when the anti-vaxers will reach the tipping point and say,"Ok bring on the shot." So sorry. I had heard eyesight was often a casualty of measles. It is nothing to play with.

  6. I spent a week in the hospital with measles in the forties. If it's the cause of my poor eyesight, no one ever made the connection.
Anti vaxxers are a plague. I do not know the cure.

  7. It's amazing what one pseudo report started.

  8. I mean the original, false study about the vaccinations. But seriously, people have a world of valid information at their fingertips.

  9. I know they say that if you were born before 1957, you should be immune, but what if? My mother says I had it, but what if she's confusing it with chicken pox? I'm going to ask my doctor if I can be tested to make sure I've had it. Those anti-vaxxers are such a pain.
