RITUALS

“What did you do yesterday,” she asked me.

“Got up at a reasonable hour, walked down to the mail box, ate lunch and dinner, took a short nap, wrote a little, and after dinner watched three episodes of West Wing,” I answered.

“What did you do this morning,” I asked me.

Sunday mornings we curl up together on the bed and watch two TV shows.  There’s Willie Geist on channel seven, and CBS Sunday Mornings with the trumpet fanfare on channel eight.  Midway through all this, we eat a muffin.  Heaven.  Then we go back to holding hands.

This has been the only ritualistic thing we’ve done during this time of Pandemic on the other days of the week.  I often sleep in.  He gets up early.  We do eat about the same times every day, but on Sunday’s it isn’t a very big meal.  It’s amazing how full one muffin with butter can make you.

  • Reading:  Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s diary and letters from 1947….
  • Photo:  Cormorants on BSR just off the Sunset Cliffs.
  • Gratitude’s:  That I have a whole library here in the house that I can read.

  1. your rituals sound sweet. So important. I need to work on rituals. I do not resonate with them, but will try.
