Himself: Still wasn’t himself. I think he picked up a bit of a bug. Much better today. Says it’s a two thumbs up day. Yesterday: swam, applied for jobs, read book by bay, bed early. Herself: Yesterday: Swam, worked on poetry, read by the bay, fixed a simple dinner…squash and salad, and bed early. Reading: Craig Claiborne’s autobiography. Gratitude: Decided to follow through on a Lessa suggestion, the sunshine, the workout, good news from Tehachap too.

I feel bereft without my camera.

Selfishly, I can tell you that it’s in the hospital and I am here. You will be seeing images from the last few weeks here until I get it back. Poor thing….and I did drop it more than once. Fumble fingers is me. Thickened fingers is me too. I thought they would thin back to normal size after surgery, but not.

Even if there are those moment when one is lifting the camera out of its case, when one is starting to put the leash on the wrist, no two holes for a neck strap here, that’s when the camera inevitably leaps into the air and comes crashing down on the floor. I do surely need to find a solution to this problem.

G says that they only made these cameras, A650 IS, for a short period of time. There were light leaks in those made overseas but not in the ones made here. Mine is a made-here camera so it’s worth it to repair it and get it on the wrist again. The next step for Canon was the consolidate the best features of mine in a lighter smaller camera. G has that one. The next step up for them is the SLR.

I have a wonderful film SLR over there. With this digital, I have what I want….a high quality point-and-shoot. It doesn’t weigh even a sixth of my heavy Pentax. It takes really good shots….if I slow down a bit. And it fits me.

What more could anyone want beyond not dropping it any more.
