20 A New Adventure

The Robson family: L to R: Gracie, Maude Amy, Father Charles, Mother Sarah, Minnie May, and Eunice. My grandmother was Maud.

After we hit two estate sales yesterday, I helped him haul the sewing table upstairs to be used for the scanning project. He had to take the top off, brought it up, and popped the top back on. Easy. After I finish this note, I’ll haul out the oldest box of photos out to see what I have.

I’ve already scanned the family photos that were in folders. Now I tackle those that are piled in boxes. Later, I will deal with G’s family pictures that live in albums downstairs. The newest adventure begins.

  1. Tender picture, one of the things I will be thankful for this year is my grandmothers and the pictures, few as they are, of them. Looking at them always brings back memories, good ones.

  2. This kind of project is precious. My sister has scanned hundreds of old pictures, obtaining them from whatever member of the family may have them. My only objection is that she has no sense of cataloguing -- eving a chronological list would be better than nothing.

And of course, though she has all the snapshots my mother took, she never seems to have the ones I remember.

  3. Love old photos.....seeing the one of grandma in her robe reminded me of a robe I had when I was young...I think it was the same one...pale pink with a pretty pink flower on it.

  4. My scanner is soooo slooow that I detest scanning old photos. I think Kay bought a better scanner for her family projects, though. If I remember correctly, she said it could scan several photos at once.

  5. Isn't is hard to believe we are them these days? Love your photos. Dianne

  6. My husband has been working on scanning family photos as well. It is a labor of love. We find how much we did not know, and those who do know are disappearing. I hope that our children and grandchildren have a better family record. Your photos are great.

  8. Delightful. What are your plans for preserving them once scanned. Are they in the cloud?
