20: Deskus Cacophonyus

One of twenty different versions of the still under repair Washington Monument.  2012.

My desk and two additional tables are piled high with papers and photographs.  The resultant cacophony is a bit frightening if you didn‘t know that all the piles had purpose.  I’m only to the finished page five now, but I think this book/album of our Smithsonian Washington DC trip is looking pretty good tho conventional.

Maybe I will be able to find some fresh, unique way of presenting the material.  Who knows.

  • Keeping those on the east coast in my thoughts and donating where it will count.

  • Himself:  Made jokes this morning.  The sharp pains gone, but he feels like he has a nasty headache all day now.

  • Herself:  hand agony, but got the book started.

  • Reading:  Another oldie.
  • Balance:  Simple dinner foods.

    1. Don't let anyone tell you the piles that you created are disorganized. When I was doing multiple jobs at one desk -- and might answer a phone call regarding any of them -- I needed everything at hand.

No one else ever understood it. They would move all the piles into one, in order to "help."

But the one who was "working with me," because if "I'm not part of the solution, I'm part of the problem" found the real answer.

At the bottom of the piles was a sign:
A neat desk is the sign of a sick mind.

    2. Your photo of the Washington Monument is one of the best I've seen, and I've seen plenty of them. Your view is from my old commuter route believe it or not.

David is having a terrible time. Even as I write he is in bed and its noon. Don't get me wrong, he got up but went back to bed. I don't know what to do other than encourage one of the dogs to go upstairs and lay with him.

On the positive side, perhaps he is making up for all the sleep he lost the last days of Peaches life.

He did get to a meeting this weekend but he said it was awful. Don't know why.

Tell George the nerve in my back where I had the Shingles still twinges with pain from time to time and its been 7 years.

    3. David is unhappy about the meeting because so many of the old guys he got sober with have died. Too tough. ]

He says he doesn't know why he is so upset about Peaches, and I told him perhaps he transferred feelings from his kids. David's oldest son died (probably drug related but we don't talk about it) and I think he might have transferred feelings from his kids.

But heck, I am no psychiatrist.
