A Better Day 2

New doors and windows line up in the sunshine.

I ran away and left the Great Geezer to deal with the doors and windows.

Middle of the room.

Before they began, he moved one typewriter desk into the middle of the living room and went to work.  The poor guy was battered by continual inturruptions.

The windows and doors came out at light speed.

By the time I came back, most of the windows and doors were installed but not finished.  They had installed trim molding as the threshold.  That upset the G a great deal.

The old and new kitchen windows.

I was very upset by the loss of light in both the kitchen window and the upstairs bathroom window.  Poor G having to live with an “artiste.”  I will find a solution, but in the meantime, we have two rooms that are dark holes of calcutta’s.

Ducting in the office.

If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.  I will find a way to live in the dark and hide the blackness.

Today we pack three computers and monitors into a big suitcase and move to the Ramada Inn.

Two nights.  The Power will be off all day tomorrow.  G can work just as well at  the Ramada as camped out in a corner of the living room.  As my sense of humor returns, I was reminded that this too will pass until I found my flat files in water.  I confess that I found a great many thing to throw away so in the end I feel slightly heroic.  Who knew.  Now I am thinking of giving Lessa my old sofa.  Who knew.

  1. That looks like a very big project to have been thrust on you so quickly. I would no doubt dissolve into tears amid the chaos and work.

  2. That's a lot to deal with all at once. Hope your stay at the Ramada is good. Thinking good thoughts your way.

  3. I'm thinking of giving Hannah my old sofa. Gosh great minds think alike. I am in love with my new "moderne" leather chair.

I think I'll replace the sofa with two of those wasily chairs. The sofa is nothing but a big doggie bed anyway. HaHa, I forgot I made you and G sit on it. What kind of friend am I?

The Economist magazine has a very nice and objective article on MT this week. And no, it is not a right-wing rag as some (one of my profs) think.

I had to laugh, the prof told the class how she sneaked and looked at her roommate's copy. Its NOT porn you know. Dianne

  4. PS Re Good Reads. Lots of fun for those who like challenges. GR has a location on their site loaded with code you put in a widget on your Wordpress site. Which code you use is up to you. I experiemented to find mine. The code connection updates your blog page whenever you add or finish a book.

As you are so much more computer savy than me, I know you can figure out which line of code and which widget to use. Dianne

PPS thanks for the poetry tip.

  5. Darker is not better, except it hides all the dust and dirt! It also will keep your home more climate constant. Just keep telling yourself that change tests your will but does not kill you and move on.

  6. The trade off between more darkness and better heat/or a/c can be difficult to accept. But when you are warm this winter or cooler this summer and your utility bills are lower; you might be able to accept it.

  7. Wow! I'm getting a headache just thinking about all you're going through. Good for you for keeping your sense of humor.
