Sunday we drove up to the new cemetery…Miramar National
Cemetery. We will be buried there now
that Ft. Rosecrans is closed. George
said there was no reason to go up there, but I wanted to see what it looked
like.
It’s not just dirt, as George insisted it was. There are flags and small rows of markers
now. When we arrived, they were
anxiously getting this small green spot ready for ceremonies at one. In the sun.
No, we wouldn’t be there we told a retired officer. On our way home, we stopped again to

My kids were at Fort rose crane today. Small world. David and I have plots across Route 50 at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. About a stones throw from our house and just off Route 50. Rolling Thunder processes up Route 50 every year. Beautiful shots. Thx.

ReplyDeleteThankfully, there's a new National Cemetery at Arvin, so will be buried there when the time comes. Thanks for the photos of Ft. Rosecrans--I have several family members buried there.

ReplyDeleteWe do not have an anchor to keep solid the place where we will be buried. Maybe my ashes will be scattered to the wind. I sadly realize that I will be but a ghost of a memory to those I leave behind and then even less and less.

ReplyDeleteI believe we'll be interred at one of the national cemeteries as well, probably in Kailua since Punchbowl is getting full.
