One online friend wrote
about being fragmented. I had just been
thinking the same thing…that I was leaving pieces undone or behind. Yesterday I had to do everything twice to get
anything done. Frustrating yes, but I
laughed it off. The truth is that my
forgettery is getting worse.
Yes, I got everything done
in the end, but it sure took a little extra effort. One example, out at the end of the driveway,
just as I was turning onto the street, I remembered the camera. Back I went.
Gotta have a camera to shoot pictures for the ACS Point Loma. I have a pile of books from the library, and
I have read a little in two. The whole
day was like that.
I found myself making
dinner last night in tiny sound bites.
Here a bit of lettuce leaf, there a half sliced grape. Reaching for this, and interrupting myself to
reach for that. I was wondering if all
the mental caucophony was due to the stress of appointments. Am I this was all the time? Is that unfinished quilt downstairs part of
all this. Perhaps I need to just curl up
with a book and forget creativity.
I think not…even if I
confuse myself, I have to plug onwards.
I find myself recreating old routines I did automatically. Upset myself the second time I found I turned on the coffee maker with no water in it. Now when I see the pot I'm thinking "water first." plug in last. I hope I'm not missing something else. So far I never leave the range on.
ReplyDeleteHubby has been this way for some time, and he still loses stuff. I, on the other hand, keep pushing and pushing and pushing this old brain. Check your fluid levels and make sure your medications are not making your foggy minded.
ReplyDeleteGracious! A friend of mine and I were just talking about this yesterday... at least I think it was yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI had somewhat the same problem in the grocery store this morning....going back down aisles for stuff I forgot. As Mom used to say, "My head never saves my heels."
ReplyDeleteI find I am doing a dozen things at once too. When I set out to do something, I forget and do something else, only to remember later.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds contagious!
Your life sounds much busier than mine as I purposely don't have as many things going any one day and only occasionally get so many irons in the fire. Then, I go out to the car, remember something else carefully left on table near door requires I return to retrieve it -- sometimes, even a second needed item has to be returned for before I can pull out of the drive. I think possibly the decreased frequency of this happening may be partially because there's just me to be coordinating with or looking after.

ReplyDeleteThe photo looks like a small slice of Heaven.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, we have too many irons in the fire, and we get distracted attending to one and then the other.
