WHAT THE RIGHT HAND KNOWS

2013:  Her Majesty.  I have been known to curtsey to her.

One of G’s coworkers at the Automotive Museum got married.  He’s a really nice young man as is this lovely, tall, thin young lady he married…Don and Anne.  The problem…he got tickets to Comic Con as a past attendee, she’s never been before.  Today was the day non-attendees could buy tickets.   Don and G planned an offensive, and this morning was the time.

Don went online at his home in North Park as himself and as his brother.  George opened two browsers, one as me and one as himself.  Anne used another computer and tried to buy one as herself.  The excitement built from 0815 to nine when the waiting room opened.  More excitement when George was let in to the ticket room.

George was the winner getting four days of tickets for Anne as we all cheered.

  • Himself:  Got Photoshop Elements 15 for the new laptop, but it won’t load.  Says the Comic Con Volunteer emails have arrived.  We loved our jobs last year.  Lunch here; volunteering at the museum today.
  • Herself:  Still coughing.  Most importantly, I am learning how to easily do things with my right hand again.  Practicing keeping my fingers stretched.
  • Poolie posted she is out of the hospital and home again.  Potassium normal again too.  Progress.
  • Reading:  The new Perry.
  • Gratitude’s:  For the day.

OH, HURRAH!!!!

The House Quilt….made up of American Historic homes plus the traditional log cabin quilt block.  The first full sized quilt I made.

Yes, up and showered and dressed early, then we were off to the Orthopedic office.  Yes, brace off.  One stitch out…the nurse said that most people would have just yanked it out themselves.  Use it normally…within reason.  Buy a loose thumb wrap to shelve books; don’t do anything heavy yet.  Start OT on the 11th, and back to the books in a week.

Oh, I am overjoyed.  I can’t say that often enough not being a left handed person.  Right now, I am an overjoyed right handed person .

Can’t you see me dancing?

I’m not going to do it all at once, but I will check into the writing class, pull out the quilting fabrics for Bobbie’s quilt, and think of things for Margot’s quilt.  Next Wednesday I will go into the store and chat with the guy who has been doing my job….see if he is ready to give it up.

  • Himself:  Work really early.  Went with me to the doctor’s office….thank you dear G.  Back at work now.
  • Herself:  Really overjoyed.  The first thing I did was wash my hand and arm.  LOL
  • J  New partial fits  better too.

  • Reading:  A stand alone Box.
  • Gratitudes:  He says my thumb and fingers have a good range of motion.  Stretch, vitamin E oil.  And saying thank you a lot to you all for your support.

    ROSES

    Rose  time.

It’s that time of year again….roses.  I arrive at the convention ready not only for a weekend of socialization, but also for roses.  Recently sold, this “resort” in Mission Valley really did need remodeling.  The newly redesigned rooms changed from ersatz colonial with oriental overtones to really, ugly, stark modernism.

By next week, I should be able to hold and operate a camera.  (Maybe I can drive my truck too.)  I’ll put up with poorly designed modernism in hopes they have left us the roses to photograph.

  • Himself:  Did the math and we have enough for the roof and a new laptop.  His knee is better.
  • Herself:  Dixie called me.  How wonderful.  She thanked me for all the cards.  Brace off tomorrow….I can hardly wait.  Looking forward to trying the laptop.  Windows 10 can see Windows 7, but not going the other way.  My backups are 7.   This is going to be a learning thing.
  • I worry: The Captain is in the hospital via ambulance after chemo and low potassium.
  • Reading:  The new Box.
  • Gratitude’s:  That Dixie called.

    OUTSIDE COMIC CON

2010: Right outside the Convention center doors, the endless stream of busses  disgorge attendees from an limited number of hotels.  Here, it seems, we have crinolined bunnies.

    2012:  Utter delight indeed.

2012.  Here it is early in the day.  The crowds are thin enough that you can still see the pavement.  Advertisers are on every corner, in every bit of the sky, and draped over every building.  It’s all part of the much loved cacophony.

2012:  By later in the afternoon, there is little sidewalk left to see.

  • Himself:  G reminds me that first  comes the Spring Round Up convention.   That’s this Thursday, through Sunday noon.  Then comes the County fair.  We love the fair.  Lastly comes Comic Con.

  • Herself:  I should be sharing fair or rose pictures with you, but I am still busy moving the Comic Con stuff over.

  • Reading:  The new Box.

  • Gratitudes:  Very grateful I have a dry arm this morning.
