Intimacies

Duck used to own two of these chairs.  Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Chair,  1962.

I like getting official notice that my breast is clean of cancer.  I like hearing that my boss came through her lumpectomy just fine.  I like intimate details like that in my daily life.  Now we are getting a little more intimate with the baptism of our youngest granddaughter Zoe.

G has been asked to be the godfather.  His godfatherly job will to be to take care of her soul.  The internet tells us:

1. Pray for your godchild regularly
2. Set an example of Christian living
3. Help him/her to grow in the faith of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in which he was baptized
4. Give every encouragement to follow Christ and fight against evil
5. Help your godchild to look forward to confirmation.

A very intimate task indeed.

Life is Really in the Footnotes:
Learn about beiing a godfather from Mother Meg; going to work at the Auto Museum.

  • Herself:  I’m doing a ride along with a good book.

  • Reading:  Still on the Hillerman Jim Chee trio.

  • Balance:  Alone time.

    1. My kids were baptized in the Roman Catholic church. But none of us attends Mass anymore.

    2. I have that chair, and a footstool that matches it. I love it. Thanks for the history.

I am a 'bad' godmother. Don't even know where my goddaughter is today. Dianne

    3. Good for you for opting in for to be Godparent's. I lost contact with my Godmother over the years until just before she died. But she kept in contact with me throughout all my family's constant moving and I will always remember her. Kids can never have too many adults in their lives who care about them.

    4. When my best friend and I were having our kids, she wanted me to be her first born's godmother despite our different backgrounds. He was baptized in the catholic church. I became his godmother but it's in name only. I'm Jewish. ;)
