Happiness is.....

The Geezer in Grumpy who is getting a run today, 2010.

Yesterday and Today

My Babylonian Captivity: Do stop in and read Tugster's newest blog. For Tugster was captured in Iran when Iraq invaded. It’s an amazing story.

Himself: Really struggled with the fax machine at Kinkos’-FedX. Got everything faxed at last. Dressed up a bit. Out to a steak dinner to celebrate. Desert too. On vacation until the 16th no longer spending a high proportion of every day hunting for a job.

Herself: The quilt blog Swam, answered questions about where he was, came home to excitement. Read script loudly at work….probably not so well as no one had a good word about it all, home to celebrate, estate sale, dinner out.

Gratitude: G’s new company which is expanding and needed more field adjusters.

Perhaps you could say that I am slightly disbelieving. Perhaps, dislocated from. Aside. Dissociated from. Why?

He applied for this perfect job online. They only had it posted one day. The first phone interview was a week and a half ago when one seventy some were reduced to seven. He had another two phone interviews the first with was with a man in the central time zone. The next was a conference call with an HR person and the Central man. Lastly was a phone interview with the head of HR.

At the end of the interview he fully expected to be told, “Thank you, and we will get back with you,” instead, she said, “I’d like to extend an offer of employment to you at X amount a year. He replied, “I’d like to take that offer.” Laughing of course.

The paperwork was emailed here as PDF’s, the training will be held in Phoenix AZ via Webinar or some other medium. Everything now is done at one-remove. I have trouble believing the job is real as there has been no human contact…he hasn’t seen a single person face to face though the W-4 and I-9 have been faxed. So very strange. And yes, G has checked the company out online.

Still, I need to start believing enough to make lists. Maybe the lists will divert the dissociation.
