The complex managers are shutting the water off. Actually, they are shutting the water off for a whole week. We are in reactionary mode and starting the laundry before dawn today in hopes of getting all water related stuff done before nine tomorrow. Nine till four…every day this week the water will be off while the complex replaces all the main shut off valves.
We will shower at the Y. Did I say we did that most days anyway. We will wash dishes at night, we will drink from bottle water that lines our stairs, lines the walls in the dining room, and sits in every other corner. We will fill the upstairs bathtub with water to flush the upstairs toilet. We will do laundry today and next Sunday. Just waiting in the corners sits extra everything from underwear to sheets. I do loves me my clean sheets.
Are we ready? Nope….the Geezer has announced that we are soon off to an estate sale or three. We did get Christmas put away yesterday, we did take Lessa and Zoe out to dinner last night. Though we did repair the dishwasher that flooded the kitchen, we didn’t get the laundry done yesterday. It will be delayed today too.
It’s perfectly ok with me if we eat out every night, but I seem to have developed a distaste for wearing dirty clothes.
That's a major inconvenience...smart of you to do the laundry early...hope eating out isn't too much of a chore too. Good luck with the water problem...
ReplyDeleteEating out-great. Dirty clothes-no can do. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteA whole week? Wow! That is really, really hard. Washing hands, toilet, etc. Sheesh! I'd be tempted to go move in with somebody.
ReplyDeleteThat's a long time but you sound very organized as to how you will handle it. And at least your evening hours will be normal.. though I hate that splurt of watery air when things are turned back on again...
ReplyDeletegeez, how would I ever manage without tap water? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteand there's always a laundromat somewhere! If it doesn't kill you it'll make you stronger. Did I hear that somewhere? Good luck.
ReplyDeleteYou don't realize how much you like water until you don't have it. We lost our water entirely for three days two years ago. Our aging water mains come from the ninettenth century.
ReplyDeleteDianne
A whole week, like camping inside your home. Thank goodness for bottled water, the Y, and hand sanitizer.
ReplyDeleteIf you get back East please let me know. Dianne
ReplyDeleteHow odd... is it too do with the running of your state or is there a severe water shortage?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year my dear friend. All the very best, good health and happiness.
Aha! Another adventure! I'm sure you will make the most of it!
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have it sussed and barring accidents you'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteJust don't go picking up any stray tummy bugs.
Sorry - I'm just teasing:)
