There was to be an astronomical high tide today coupled with
storm surf. I’d told the Geezer about it
last night…seven thirty, I told him. By
eight thirty this morning, we were on our way down the hill in the flat out
freezing cold sunny morning.
Most of the surf watchers weren’t young this morning. Even the singer had grey hair as did an old artist
friend. It was a joy to stand by the sea
wall and catch up on the news.
The surfers all were strong ocean swimmers too. I didn’t see any of the young ones out there
in the water with their new boards and wet suits just the rounder folks like
us.
We took a quick look at the cliffs before coming home. The waves were truly crashing just below G’s
feet, and over to the right the dedicated fishermen were throwing their lines
out with enthusiasm into the cold sea wind.
Isn't it nice to be able to say "not very well written"? I remember when I had trouble getting into a book I always thought it was something about me. The more I read, the more I recognize good writing, the older I get the more I trust myself!
ReplyDeleteI would comment...but just have nothing to day. Sorry your winter is something we prepared for.
ReplyDeleteIt looks cold over there. Here in Hawaii, nobody dresses like that at the beach!
ReplyDeleteOur local hospital offers a presurgery seminar on what to expect with a joint replacement. David says the course was useful as it gave him insight.
ReplyDeleteHis knee replacement was far worse than hip replacement, however. Perhaops because he was three years older.
Sorry about the eggs.
I can smell the ozone:)
